Morgan is a legend of the British automotive world, with a storied history. The company was founded in 1910, and it continues to produce cars today, most notably the 3-Wheeler, first launched in 2012, and other models such as the Plus Six and the Plus Four.
A couple of years ago, Morgan teamed up with Italian design house Pininfarina to create a convertible, limited-edition version of the Plus Six, which was dubbed the Midsummer. Just two years later, the two companies have teamed up again to create something potentially even more special.
This is the Midsummer Coupe, based around the same car that Morgan and Pininfarina introduced in 2024. And this will be even more exclusive than the 50-unit roadster, with fewer than 10 coupes being produced. Like its predecessor, this new coupe is a thing of beauty, and may even be the best-looking car Morgan has ever produced.
But don’t think Morgan simply plopped a roof on top and decided that was it. The company did a few design tweaks and upgrades to the Midsummer Coupe to make sure it could differentiate itself further from the convertible. Best of all, some throaty BMW power now sits under the hood.
How Morgan and Pininfarina Modified the Midsummer Coupe
Firstly, the two companies worked together to try to get the roof to integrate with the original design of the Midsummer as best as possible. The car now sports a glass canopy, with a central strip that extends from the front to the rear of the car. Morgan also gave the car taller doors, as well as new handles in the beltline, to retain the sleek profile.
The new 19-inch forged wheels are also exclusive to the coupe, with a gorgeous multi-spoke design. The convertible version had disc-style alloy wheels. What is perhaps most impressive is how Morgan has ensured the weight hasn’t gone up too much. In fact, the new coupe weighs just 2.5 percent more than a Supersport with an optional hardtop. It did, however, have to significantly change the structure of the body style to handle the roof.

The stunning design isn’t confined to the outside either. Inside, there is stunning wood trim, complete with aluminum accents, and you could argue that the interior is simply perfect. Sadly, there is no manual transmission. Instead, it uses the same eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that can be found on the Roadster. Still, it’s a small price to pay for something so beautiful, and you probably wouldn’t care what transmission it had once you’re out on the open road.
What Powers the New Midsummer Coupe?

Under the hood is the reliable and proven BMW B58 engine. This is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, found in a wide array of cars, including the Ineos Grenadier. The engine is officially rated at 402hp and 369lb-ft of torque in the Morgan Supersport 400, which is the most powerful car the company has ever produced. However, it hasn’t revealed how powerful the engine is in the new coupe.
If you want to get your hands on one of these, well, act fast. Because Morgan and Pininfarina have committed to making just nine of these Midsummer Coupes. That pales in comparison to the 50 roadsters made in 2024. No price has yet been given by Morgan. Although we can’t imagine these are going to go cheaply!
