A woman has posted a video on her TikTok sharing that she has inherited her late mother’s Pontiac Trans Am. That alone sounds like a nice story, but this particular Trans Am comes with a catch. It comes with a dark history and a secret compartment.
The woman is Lex, who has taken to TikTok to discuss the car that her mother passed down to her. Usually, something like this is a cause for celebration. You can uniquely remember your loved ones and continue to look after something that likely meant a lot to them.
Some sell the cars on, but others keep the cars as they mean a lot to them and the family. Lex is one of those who kept hold of the car, a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am muscle car that used to belong to her mother.
However, this is a car with an incredibly seedy past. Far from being a car that brings back happy memories of holidays or adventures, this car was actually used to traffic drugs across the United States. Yes, you read that right. This particular family heirloom has a past you probably didn’t predict.
What Lex Said About the Pontiac Trans Am
@fastforwardrewind This car has to much lore. If there is any interest I will keep telling her story in order to fund it running again. #car #musclecar #carsoftiktok #blowthisup ♬ original sound – Lex
Incredibly, this car was used to transport drugs, specifically cocaine, from Miami to Daytona Beach. “My mother would use this car to traffic [cocaine] from Miami to Daytona Beach,” said Lex. “She was arrested for distribution in 1992, but she was never caught for the trafficking portion,” she added. “Before anyone calls me a narc, my mother has been gone for 13 years, and the statute of limitations for trafficking is only like five years.”
To get drugs across the country, the Pontiac needed a secret compartment. In fact, it had several of them, with the most notable being beneath the hood. The hood scoop on the car was false, so Lex’s mother could put ‘bricks’ beneath it and take them from Miami to Daytona.
“And there are a few other things in the car that were traps,” said Lex on TikTok. But the car is currently living a very quiet life after its years of taking drugs across Florida.
“But now it’s owned by a really boring millennial. I’ve never done the booger sugar. It’s a beautiful ornament in my yard that does not run,” she added.
Of course, the bricks she meant were drug bricks, not the kind we use to build our homes. This certainly isn’t your average history for a Pontiac muscle car, and it’s amazing that it still exists, given what it seemed to spend much of its life doing.
This Is What TikTok Viewers Thought About the Car

Naturally, many people were skeptical about this Pontiac and the life it has had. Some suggested making a documentary about Lex’s mom, given the life she also had. Others discussed the car and what Lex might be able to do with it one day. “If you ever fixed it up, I’d have a police [dog] come around to sniff it to be safe,” one TikTok user suggested.
“Fix it and make a statement that just because a parent makes bad decisions doesn’t mean the kids can’t have a badass car,” another said. TikTok users seem to have quite an appetite to learn more about this car and hear more about Lex’s mom’s past. It’s rare for a car with that kind of history to survive to tell the tale.
Maybe one day Lex will get the car running again, as it is certainly deserving of a restoration.
