Street takeovers or sideshows can be extremely dangerous, not only for the drivers who engage in dangerous stunts but also for every person walking on the street. The presence of more cars and more people always adds to the chaos. In recent years, takeovers, often orchestrated by teenagers, have ended with fires, gunshots, violence, and vehicle-related incidents.
Residents end up complaining about damage to their cars and about the loud exhaust noises from vehicles present at such events, especially since they usually occur early in the morning. Eventually, the police are put under pressure to make arrests, but suspects often end up fleeing in cars that are challenging to track in or in vehicles that have been stolen.
Footage of a street takeover in Hayward is doing the rounds on social media, where a blue Chevrolet Camaro that was reportedly stolen from San Jose, crashes into a group of people, before hitting a semi truck parked at a distance.
The scene shows a large crowd getting too close for comfort to the Camaro before being hit by the muscle car.
Hayward Police Make No Arrests

According to a report by Fox KTVU, the Hayward Police Department is investigating the incident where the stolen Camaro crashed into several people and a semi truck. Around 60 cars were part of the street takeover, which occurred just before 1:45 a.m.
The police confirmed that they received no reports of injuries, despite the video showcasing the hit-and-run incident. The occupants of the Camaro fled the scene before police arrived. No arrests have been made thus far.
The police took measures to disperse the crowd from the area to prevent the situation from escalating. Due to a lack of information, it is difficult to assess the extent of damage to the semi truck.
Blue Camaro Goes Berserk Before Being Stopped by a Semi Truck
Footage of the incident highlights the driver going wild with the blue Camaro, nearly hitting every object that came in his way as the driver tried to perform donuts. However, veering from its path, the car hit bystanders. The crowd could be seen lifting a man who was hit by the muscle car.
The car continued to slide wildly into what appears to be pavement before crashing head-on into the semi truck. The driver can be seen exiting the Camaro right after the crash, as the crowd runs through the tire smoke toward the muscle car, only to climb and jump on it.
The video, uploaded by NBC Bay Area, reveals that the incident occurred at the intersection of Depot and Clawiter roads. Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas said that the street takeover started in Oakland, before it moved to Hayward.
