A man in Wolcott, Connecticut, is facing multiple charges after he allegedly shoplifted multiple laundry detergent containers from a local Dollar General. Authorities later found that the same suspect had been involved in other incidents, including a car theft, police said.

According to a press release issued by the Wolcott Police Department, the incident occurred back on May 6, 2026. WPD officers responded to a Dollar General located at 421 Wolcott Road.

Store personnel told authorities, while reporting the crime, that a man had allegedly stolen laundry detergent. They also managed to provide a description of the suspect.

WPD officers, while on the way to the Dollar General, came across a man walking on Wolcott Road. He was identified as 38-year-old Hivzo “Jimmy” Redzepagic.

Laundry Detergent Containers

According to the WPD, Redzepagic was seen carrying four containers of laundry detergent. He was arrested and was then charged with sixth-degree larceny and was being held on a $5,000 bond.

If convicted of his larceny charge, Redzepagic could spend up to 3 months in jail. He might also be ordered to pay a $500 fine.

And while the misdemeanor charge is minor in the grand scheme of things, the alleged detergent shoplifting wasn’t the only crime Redzepagic was connected to. While in custody, police found three incidents in which the 38-year-old was named a suspect.

Car Theft to End the Night

The first incident that came to the WPD’s attention occurred back on March 7, 2026, the most recent of the bunch. WPD officers obtained a warrant in connection with a motor vehicle theft.

As per the police, this incident occurred at Cumberland Farms, located on 723 Wolcott Road. That is three blocks away from the Dollar General mentioned above.

Surveillance footage allegedly showed Redzepagic entering an unattended running vehicle parked in the Cumberland Farms and driving away. Later on March 7, the vehicle was recovered in Waterbury, approximately a 15-minute drive away.

Robberies

Still, authorities also identified Redzepagic as a suspect in two different robberies. Both of them occurred on November 13, 2024.

Again, these incidents took place on Wolcott Road, starting with Rite Aid Pharmacy. Allegedly, after Redzepagic unsuccessfully tried to rob the pharmacy, he fled on foot and ended up in Cumberland Farms, the same location featured in the vehicle theft two years later.

He is accused of taking a carton of Newport cigarettes and $300 in cash. By using surveillance footage and DNA evidence from an allegedly discarded hat, Redzepagic was identified as the suspect.

Charges

In connection with the vehicle theft, he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and first-degree criminal trespass. His bond was set at $50,000, and he was remanded to New Haven Correctional Center.

Redzepagic will face two second-degree robbery charges in connection with the two robbery incidents. Each charge carries a court-set bond of $150,000.
