What started as a World Cup celebration of Mexico’s FIFA win ended with a police investigation after videos spread across social media.

Authorities say one driver’s alleged celebration caught far more attention than he expected.

Accroding to the Santa Ana Police Departmet, they reviewed the viral footage, identified both the driver and the vehicle, and later served a search warrant.

Police Say Viral Videos Led to an Arrest

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, officers identified 27-year-old David Martinez of Westminster after reviewing videos that allegedly showed reckless driving and vandalism during World Cup celebrations in Santa Ana.

Investigators say they later served a search warrant, seized the suspect’s white Infiniti, and arrested Martinez.

Police say he was booked into the Santa Ana Jail on suspicion of felony vandalism, which allegedly caused about $15,000 in damage, and reckless driving.

Celebration Turned Into Property Damage

The arrest follows celebrations after Mexico’s World Cup matches that drew large crowds throughout Santa Ana.

According to police, videos circulating online appeared to show dangerous driving and damage to city property during the celebrations.

Investigators say the alleged vandalism resulted in approximately $15,000 in damage.

Police Say the Investigation Isn’t Over

The Santa Ana Police Department says it supports fans celebrating World Cup matches but does not tolerate criminal activity that puts others at risk or damages public property.

Officials say they will continue investigating incidents connected to the celebrations and will pursue criminal charges when appropriate.
