A man in Lee County, Florida, is facing child neglect charges after his alleged actions during a street takeover. He is accused of doing wheelies with an ATV with his 8-year-old on his lap, with recently released footage showing the dangerous trick.
According to a Facebook post by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), the incident occurred on April 25, 2026. At the time, a street takeover had taken place in Lehigh Acres.
LCSO deputies responded to a gas station located off Palm Beach Boulevard. They had received reports of various ATV riders in the area.
Detectives with the 2nd Precinct Crime Section then reviewed video footage of the area at the time of the street takeover. There, they spotted mulitple suspects, including the aforementioned man.
Wheelies Lead to Investigation
As shown in the footage attached above, mulitple ATVs can be spotted at the gas station in question. One of them was particularly highlighted, as the driver had a child sitting on his lap.
Just seconds into the clip, the man is observed accelerating his ATV. He then performs a wheelie with his vehicle, all while, of course, the boy remained in his lap.
Shortly after the dangerous maneuver, the man in the ATV and other drivers are shown driving away from the gas station. Deputies, after reviewing the footage, began investigating the incident.
Suspect Identified, Found, and Arrested
Nearly two months later, after following investigative leads, LCSO detectives identified the suspect as 29-year-old Jordianis Garcia. His son, unnamed, is eight years old.
Law enforcement made contact with Garcia on June 15. Multiple detectives can be seen placing Garcia under arrest, who didn’t resist and put his hands behind his back as a sign of cooperation.
According to the LCSO, Garcia admitted to being the one seen in the clip above.
Father Charged
Garcia is charged with child neglect without great bodily harm. He is also cited for racing on a highway and coordinating a street takeover. If convicted of his child neglect charge, he could face up to five years in prison, five years’ probation, and be ordered to pay $5,000 in fines.
