A self-proclaimed cursed and unlucky family in East Windsor, Connecticut, is asking for help after a car crashed into their home. This comes less than a year after another car did the same thing to another part of their house.
As reported by CT Insider, the latest of these crashes occurred on Wednesday, June 24. Jessica Hannington lives at her home on North Road in the Broad Brook neighborhood with her fiancée, Christopher Welch, their two children, her mother-in-law, Leslie Bourque, and her sister-in-law.
At around 4:30 a.m., Jessica heard her mother-in-law screaming from her bedroom. Turns out, a dresser had fallen on top of her, and Jessica’s daughter, alongside her friends who were at the house for a sleepover, helped push the piece of furniture down.
The shocking incident had an even more shocking explanation. A car had crashed into the house.
Dramatic Scene
Jessica and her family found the vehicle’s front tires were sitting in the basement ceiling. The driver, meanwhile, was standing in the Hanningtons’ driveway, and he was injured.
“He was covered in blood as his head went through the windshield,” Jessica said. With her trauma nurse training, she began tending to her mother-in-law and began taking pictures of the wrecked scene.
The driver, meanwhile, was transported to a hospital via an ambulance. Reportedly, the driver’s mother later arrived at Jessica’s home and apologized, saying that he had taken her car “without permission” and adding that her son was on unspecified medications.
Smoke and Antifreeze
With the house in disarray, Jessica began to worry as she soon noticed the basement filling up with smoke. Additionally, she also noticed the smell of antifreeze and oil.
However, the car wasn’t immediately removed from the house. A building inspector told her that the family needed to install a structural retaining wall. That way, other parts of the crumbling house would not fall into the basement. They did so the next day, and the car was removed on Thursday, June 25.
Now, the Hannington family is facing the fallout of yet another car that has left their home in shambles. Worst of all? The previous one occurred less than a year ago.
Previous Car Crash
Jessica revealed that the house had suffered a similar incident back in August 2025. At the time, the Connecticut woman and her daughter were returning home, and soon were shocked when they saw that a vehicle had crashed through the house into their living room.
Jessica’s fiancée was taking a shower at the time, while their son and Bourque were in the living room. The room’s foundation was broken, causing both of them to be launched into the air, with the mother-in-law getting hit by the very radiator that caused such a perilous moment.
Allegedly, the vehicle’s driver was intoxicated at the time. The suspect was arrested shortly after.
Asking for Help
This initial crash, in conjunction with the newest one, has left the house in terrible shape, with a missing living room stone foundation and windows screwed shut. There were even tarps installed in the front of the house at the time of the second crash.
Now, the family is asking the town for help. Jessica told WFSB that they would like some sort of boulder or other protection across the front of the road to protect their house.
And while Jessica is grateful that her family was seriously hurt, she has had enough of her situation. She added, “I don’t know if we’re cursed or we’re just the most unlucky people on the planet.”
