Footage of two women chasing an Aeroflot plane across a restricted section of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport has resurfaced on social media, but the airport dash happened weeks earlier.
The incident occurred July 25. An Aug. 8 post from Breaking Aviation News & Videos helped send the footage around social media, showing the passengers approaching an aircraft with one woman pulling a rolling suitcase behind her.
The women had already passed through preflight screening and were inside the airport’s sterile zone before leaving the permitted passenger area, according to a statement from Sheremetyevo International Airport.
Airport staff spotted the breach, detained the pair and turned them over to Russia’s Federal Security Service. The airport said the incident did not create a threat to other passengers or flight safety.

The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office provided a little more detail when it announced a review of the incident Aug. 8.
The office said the passengers had missed an Aeroflot flight, entered the apron and tried to catch an aircraft that was being towed toward the runway.
Prosecutors said they would examine the actions of airport and airline employees, including whether transportation-security requirements and measures intended to prevent unauthorized access were followed.
The footage was therefore already old by the time it began spreading widely online. The airport’s statement identified July 25 as the date of the breach, nearly two weeks before the transport prosecutor publicly announced its review.
Wrong Plane
Missing the flight was only part of the problem.
Moscow 24 later reported that the women were supposed to be flying to Bodrum, Turkey, for a wedding.
The aircraft they chased wasn’t going there.
According to the outlet, the women instead went after a plane bound for Ufa, a Russian city more than 700 miles east of Moscow. A representative for the passengers said they had panicked after missing their flight and hoped the crew would notice them and let them aboard.
The attempt got them neither flight.
Moscow 24 reported that each woman was ultimately fined 2,000 rubles over the incident.
