The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Frank Sloup had a pretty interesting run-in with a woman who was taken to the sheriff’s office after being found in possession of various substances. What’s even stranger isn’t the many substances she had on her and in her; it’s the fact that she was also smuggling a man in her trunk.
Fortunately, the K-9 unit that was actually in charge of conducting the traffic stop called Sloup for a bit of backup, and he was actually pretty surprised. I’d like to think that there’s a lot he’s seen in this job and that little surprises him.
Even though the man in the trunk is probably the most interesting part of this, Deputy Sloup’s job was to return to the sheriff’s office and question the driver as part of the investigation. Fortunately, Sloup does a pretty good job at making this a rollercoaster worth riding.
What I liked most about the video is that, even under the pressure of potentially losing her license and not really understanding what Sloup was telling her, she didn’t lose her cool. In fact, there’s even a point when he compliments her jacket.
Deputies Make an Unexpected Discovery in the Trunk
At the beginning of the video, an officer is seen speaking with a woman during a traffic stop, informing her that she will need to step out of the vehicle. While the officers are talking to her, one of them explains that he believes they will find more after checking her car.
Shortly after this, the officers went to the back of the woman’s car and began opening her trunk. To everyone’s surprise, there was a mass huddled inside the trunk. The officers were quick to get him out of the blistering trunk and put him in handcuffs.
It was after this that Deputy Sloup arrived on the scene, also surprised to learn about the extra passenger in the trunk. After this, he let the officers on the scene handle the extra passenger while he went back to the police station to talk to the woman who was driving.
Deputy Frank Sloup Tries to Untangle the Rest of the Story
The rest of the conversation really had nothing to do with the man in the trunk so much as it did with checking the driver for substances. She was notified that Sloup had probable cause to believe that she had various substances in her system, giving her the option to consent to a blood, urine, or other test to determine that.
She tells him she isn’t sure whether to consent because she isn’t very familiar with the laws, but even after Sloup explains it to her plainly, she still doesn’t understand. She was notified that if she declined the test, she could face various penalties, including a 12-month suspension of her license.
Eventually, he told her she didn’t have much of a choice and that she should complete the test there because of probable cause. She didn’t seem to be too upset by this as it was happening.
The Comment Section Couldn’t Get Past the Trunk Passenger
Commenters were so focused on the fact that there was someone in the trunk that the two most-liked comments read, “Maybe she was going to the drive-in movies and didn’t want to pay for him,” and “The cop that says ‘pop the truck’ just to make sure no one’s dying back there! Then ‘oooooaaaahhh!’ Like he wasn’t surprised. That got me!!”
Additional information about the driver or the person she had in her trunk was not disclosed in the video. After some additional research, the arrest report could also not be located.
Given that the date information in the top-right corner of the video is blurred, it’s likely that the girl is a minor. However, this information has not been confirmed.
