A woman has recounted her frustration after she told TikTok viewers that she had bought a brand-new Mazda, which then decided it couldn’t detect the car keys and refused to open the doors. Something you don’t expect to happen just two months after buying a car.
The story was recounted by TikTok user Liyah (@livinlavish.liyah), who said that the Mazda she had bought started to throw its toys out of the pram just a couple of months ago. Her text overlay in the video asked a simple question: “Does anyone else’s Mazda do this?”
Liyah then went ahead and showed off the ‘key not detected’ message that was appearing on her dashboard. This was even though, as we can see in the video, she had the key fob on her, and it was inside the car. She also said it isn’t the first time the issue had occurred.
Liyah also said that she had tried multiple times to fix the problem, and none of her fixes had worked. As with a lot of TikTok videos, the comments were full of various opinions and views as to what had gone wrong and how it could be fixed.
What Was Happening With Liyah’s Mazda?

Liyah was rightly flabbergasted by what was happening to her car in her video. The car had just 6,000 miles on the clock at the time of filming, so it was very much still brand new. Liyah had also only had the Mazda for two months before it started throwing the error messages at her. “Mazda, why do you do this?” she said in her video.
Why? Bruh, brand new car, I literally only have 6,000 miles on it. I literally got it maybe like two months ago. Cool: key not detected,” she added. Liyah showed the “key not detected” error that had lit up on the dashboard. Yet she clearly had the key fob on her person. The owner of the Mazda also said that she has tried to fix the issue multiple times, but nothing she did has worked.
“I’ve changed this at least three times,” she said, showing off the fob. From what Liyah has said, it sounds like she has had the fob changed a few times, yet not a single fix has worked. “God forbid they were shooting, like, I’m cooked, ’cause my car won’t start. Or sometimes the doors won’t even unlock,” she added, clearly frustrated in the video. To their credit, Mazda actually responded to her plea for help and said, “We DM’d you!”
What Did Others Say Was Causing the Issue?

As with many TikTok videos, the comments section was full of people who thought they knew what was wrong. “It could be interference from the 732 other things on your keychain,” one commenter said. The clutter on Liyah’s keychain may have been causing some problems. “Take the other fob off. It’s causing interference,” another person said.
Usually, when these problems occur, it is due to a dying or weak battery. That is most likely what has gone on with Liyah and her particular Mazda. However, if she had changed the fob three times, then perhaps there is something going wrong within the car itself. Either way, Liyah was not enjoying her Mazda ownership experience.
