This Stunning 1956 Ford F-100 Packs A Twin-Turbo Coyote V8 With Nearly 800 HP

The 1956 Ford F-100 is one of the coolest vintage trucks out there, and this particular example has enough horsepower to embarrass plenty of modern sports cars. Under its classic bodywork sits a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 producing an estimated 750 to 800 horsepower.

Built by Arizona-based Fat Fender Garage, this custom pickup recently appeared on the AutotopiaLA YouTube channel. It’s a beautifully finished restomod that combines old-school Ford styling with some seriously modern hardware.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Fat Fender Garage has worked on the truck. The shop originally built it around nine years ago, but the owner recently decided it was time for a major upgrade.

That meant replacing almost everything underneath the body, including the chassis, drivetrain, and interior. Carrying out all that work without damaging the truck’s existing paint was definitely a challenge.

From A Humble 302 To A Twin-Turbo Coyote

The F-100 originally ran a Ford 302 V8 before receiving a naturally aspirated Coyote engine. Apparently, that wasn’t quite enough, because the owner eventually asked Fat Fender Garage to add a pair of turbochargers.

Fitting everything into the engine bay wasn’t easy, and the shop had to revise the turbo plumbing and blow-off valve arrangement during tuning. The result is an estimated 750 to 800 horsepower at the crank, although the truck hasn’t been dyno-tested.

Power goes to the rear wheels through a Ford 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission and a nine-inch rear axle. That’s a pretty serious drivetrain for a pickup that left the factory seven decades ago.

Modern Chassis, Classic Truck Attitude

The original underpinnings have been replaced with Fat Fender Garage’s custom air-ride chassis, allowing the truck to sit incredibly low when parked. It also rides on 20-inch wheels, with wider 12-inch rims at the rear.

Wilwood brakes handle stopping duties, while the dual exhaust exits beneath the rear bumper. The beautifully finished wooden bed is another highlight, with the shop handling the woodworking in-house.

Inside, the F-100 gets a custom bench seat, Dakota Digital gauges, air conditioning, and a Bluetooth audio system. There’s even a cleverly concealed controller for the air suspension, keeping the dashboard clean and uncluttered.

Surprisingly Civilized For An 800-HP Pickup

Despite its outrageous power, the truck is apparently well-behaved when driven normally. During AutotopiaLA’s road test, Shawn praised its comfortable seating position, responsive steering, and smooth transmission shifts.

Even a modest squeeze of the accelerator quickly reveals that this is no ordinary vintage pickup. The twin-turbo Coyote delivers enough shove to put the fear of God in those who get too enthusiastic with the throttle, and that’s arguably the best part of this build.
