A driver tried to turn right from the center turn lane and crossed two lanes of traffic. Seconds later, another car hit the SUV. The crash was captured on dashcam, but viewers questioned both drivers.
The video was shared in Reddit’s r/dashcams group. It shows a red SUV moving to the right on a wet road. A car with a dashcam approaches from behind as the SUV heads toward an entrance.
The person who posted the video said the SUV driver blamed the turn on a slip, but the dashcam owner didn’t buy that answer. After all, the SUV had crossed two lanes before the cars hit each other.
But many viewers focused on the dashcam driver. The SUV’s right turn signal was on, and the dashcam showed a speed over 50 mph. Some people thought the driver had time to slow down before the crash.

At the start of the clip, the SUV is already moving right. Its turn signal is flashing, even though the driver is not in the lane next to the curb. The SUV then heads across traffic toward an entrance.
The dashcam car keeps going as the SUV moves into its path. Near the last moment, the dashcam driver steers right. Both cars end up heading toward the same spot, and they crash.
The road looks wet, but the video does not show why the SUV driver chose that lane. It also cannot prove whether the tires slipped.
Why Not Brake?
On Reddit, several viewers asked why the dashcam driver did not slow down sooner. They pointed to the SUV’s turn signal and its move across the road. To them, the danger was clear before the impact.
The dashcam speed also drew attention. It reads about 51 mph, then drops to 48 mph near the crash. After the hit, it falls to about 42 mph.
Some viewers saw those numbers as a sign that the driver did not brake much, but a dashcam’s speed display can update slowly. The numbers alone do not show when the driver hit the brakes or how hard.
Others questioned the move to the right. They wondered why the driver did not steer left, away from the SUV. However, we don’t know if that choice would have been safer.
Where It Happened
People in the Reddit thread said the road looked like South Rangeline Road in Joplin, Missouri, saying the speed limit there is 40 mph. If both details are right, the dashcam’s first speed reading was 11 mph over the limit.
However, the material contains no confirmed police finding of fault.
The poster said no one was badly hurt. When the SUV driver said she had slipped, the poster said their reply was: “I said you slipped across two lanes.”
