These Two Cops Are Going Viral for All the Right Reasons, and Their Height Difference Is Half the Story

Most police officers clock in, patrol their beat, and clock out without ever once thinking about their camera angles or engagement rates. Officers Craig Raymond and Evan Tortorelli of the Huntersville Police Department in North Carolina are not most police officers.

The two have quietly become one of law enforcement’s more entertaining online presences, posting short-form videos across Instagram and TikTok that mix real moments from their patrol shifts with genuine humor and enough personality to make you actually want to watch a cop video on purpose. Yes, on purpose.

Neither officer was exactly jumping at the chance to become a content creator. Raymond admitted they were both “a little reluctant at first,” which, honestly, is a deeply relatable feeling shared by anyone who has ever watched their own video playback and immediately wanted to quit. But once they saw what the finished product looked like, the hesitation faded fast.

The department’s information officer helped shape the creative direction, doing actual research into what audiences find engaging rather than just pointing a phone at someone and hoping for the best. A novel approach, truly.

What the Videos Are Actually About (And Why It Matters)

The clips are funny, sure, but Raymond is quick to point out that entertainment is not the whole point. The goal, as he put it, is to show the “humanity” of the people behind the badge and help the department connect with residents on a different level than a press release ever could.

It is a surprisingly earnest mission for a duo whose most immediately noticeable quality is the fact that Raymond stands around 6 feet 6 inches tall, while Tortorelli occupies a considerably lower altitude. The height gap has become a recurring talking point for viewers, and Tortorelli leaned into it himself, joking that the department essentially went with the tallest and one of the shortest officers available. Whether that was intentional casting or a happy accident, it works. The visual contrast alone is content.

The two actually work in different units within the department, which makes their on-screen chemistry more impressive rather than less. They built a genuine partnership, and that comes through in the videos in a way that no amount of scripting could manufacture.

The community response has been warm, with residents showing real support for the initiative. As for whether more videos are coming, Tortorelli was characteristically direct: “We’ve got it going now.”

Consider that a yes.
