A Texas man’s attempt to conceal himself and his ex-girlfriend inside a vehicle ended with his arrest after police responded to a domestic disturbance. Investigators say the situation began when he entered the woman’s apartment without permission, assaulted her, and forced her into his car against her will.
According to the Prairie View Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in progress on September 17, 2026. Upon arriving, they discovered 20-year-old Jermaine Marquion Cerda attempting to hide both himself and his ex-girlfriend inside his vehicle.
Officers quickly took Cerda into custody without further incident, but their investigation revealed accusations extending well beyond the suspicious circumstances inside the car. Police determined that Cerda had entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment without her consent before physically assaulting her and forcing her to leave.
Cerda was subsequently arrested on charges of assault causing bodily injury to a family member, burglary of a habitation, and kidnapping. Waller County Jail records show that he remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings, with bonds totaling $250,000 across the three charges.

The Prairie View Police Department said its patrol officers encountered Cerda while responding to a domestic disturbance involving his former girlfriend. Rather than finding him inside the apartment, officers discovered him attempting to conceal himself and the woman inside his vehicle.
According to Patrol Corporal Brandon Confair, investigators determined that Cerda had entered the woman’s apartment without her permission and physically assaulted her. Police further accused him of forcing her out of the apartment and placing her inside his vehicle while attempting to leave the scene.
Authorities did not explain how Cerda attempted to conceal the two of them or whether the woman suffered injuries requiring medical treatment. However, officers intervened and arrested Cerda without further confrontation, bringing the encounter to an end before he could leave the scene.
