Customers enjoying dinner at one of Los Angeles’ most unique restaurants got an unexpected show over the weekend when deputies arrested a robbery suspect in the parking lot. The dramatic scene unfolded outside the popular Tesla Diner in West Hollywood as patrol cars and a sheriff’s helicopter converged on the area.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect was taken into custody around 9 p.m. Saturday at the Tesla Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard. Investigators say the man was wanted in connection with a theft at a nearby Target store.
Authorities did not specify which Target was involved, but the Tesla Diner is located just a couple of blocks from the Target on La Brea Avenue. Deputies tracked the suspect to the restaurant after a foot pursuit through the surrounding area.
Video shared on the Citizen App captured deputies rushing into the diner’s parking lot while a sheriff’s helicopter circled overhead. Dozens of customers watched as the pursuit came to an end in front of the futuristic restaurant.
Foot Chase Ended in Front of Packed Restaurant

According to reports, the pursuit began near Santa Monica Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue after deputies requested backup for a suspect running eastbound through an alley. An air unit assisted officers by tracking the suspect from above as deputies closed in.
The chase ultimately ended at the Tesla Diner, where deputies arrested the suspect in full view of customers eating outside. During the arrest, both the suspect and one of the arresting deputies reportedly complained of knee injuries, prompting firefighters to respond and evaluate both individuals at the scene.
Authorities later declared the incident Code 4, indicating the situation was secure and there was no longer any threat to the public. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has not released the suspect’s identity.
Tesla Diner Has Become One of Los Angeles’ Most Popular Attractions
The arrest unfolded at the Tesla Diner, which opened in July 2025 and has become a popular destination thanks to its combination of a restaurant, Tesla Superchargers, and a massive four-story outdoor video screen overlooking the parking lot.
While visitors normally stop by for food or to charge their vehicles, Saturday night’s customers instead witnessed an active law enforcement operation. Videos of the arrest quickly circulated online, giving many people a front-row seat to the unusual conclusion of the foot pursuit.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has not released additional information about the alleged Target theft or identified the suspect. As with all criminal cases, the allegations remain accusations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
