Shocking dashcam footage has emerged of the Learjet business jet that crashed in a neighbourhood in Florida, killing nine people on board. The footage was taken on board cars driving along the road where the aircraft crashed, with several motorists narrowly avoiding being struck by the jet.
Dashcam footage of the accident was first shown across social media sites before making it onto international news. The r/dashcams subreddit on Reddit has some of the most dramatic footage, including one clip looking out of the rear of the business jet as it crashes to Earth.
The footage shows the jet suddenly dropping out of the sky and slamming into the ground at an alarming speed, leaving a huge fireball as it disintegrates on impact. Audio from the footage gives us a fleeting soundtrack of the jet as it appears from the top of the screen, before it hits the ground and explodes.
The dashcam car driver can be heard in total shock at what has just happened. As the footage was taken from the rear camera, the driver of the car would have had no idea what had happened before the jet hit the ground.

The aircraft crashed near Cresthaven, around nine miles from Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s resort in Palm Beach County. An image posted after the crash showed a huge crater with fire and debris all around. International news outlets such as the BBC reported that no one on the ground was hurt.
The aircraft, a Learjet 60, had departed from Austin, Texas. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the aircraft was headed to the Bahamas. Flight analysis showed that the Learjet began to plummet hundreds of feet per second before the aircraft slammed into the ground. Audio recordings from the cockpit, recorded via air traffic control, picked up some of the discussions taking place between the crew members before the Learjet crashed.
The crew are heard saying they had “moderate turbulence” and were “managing the ice.” Crew members are then heard saying the aircraft was “picking up precipitation” and “we need to climb” before they stated they were descending at a rate of 10,000ft per minute. The recording became more chilling, with a crew member yelling that they were declaring an emergency and saying, “We are in an overspeed condition, descending 20,000ft per minute”, and they then said, “We are going to crash into the ground.” The final words heard from the cockpit were, “We’re out of time.”
More Dashcam Footage Has Emerged of the Crash

More dashcam footage of the accident has also been shared on social media. The r/dashcam subreddit also showed an alternative angle from a car further back from the accident. In this, we are looking out the front of the car, and a black object can be seen shooting out of the sky and into the ground, almost like a missile. It rapidly drops to Earth and then explodes in front of us.
The driver of the car clearly didn’t want to get caught up in the accident, or what might unfold, so they quickly turned around into the opposite lane and drove away. At the time of writing, it was not clear who was aboard the crash. The crash caused huge damage to local infrastructure, and it would take up to 30 days for the road it crashed into to be reopened.
