One Very Expensive Miscalculation Leaves Car Carrier Wedged Under California Bridge

One Very Expensive Miscalculation Leaves Car Carrier Wedged Under California Bridge

I’ve never driven a car carrier trailer before, but I’d like to think that there is very rigorous training to be done before you’re actually able to get behind the wheel. There are also various car carrier types to consider as well, each with their own sizes, weight limits, and things to watch out for.

This Marysville, California, driver was definitely not having the best day when a car transport vehicle he was driving smashed into a bridge has was passing under. Well, it was more that the car at the top of the vehicle was a little too high up to pass under the bridge.

What’s even worse is that you can’t see the damage, but judging by the way the driver is reacting, I can only imagine how bad it really is. You can even see other drivers making U-turns because they already know that it’s going to take forever for someone to help this driver out.

I’d hate to open up TikTok and find that a car I was waiting for was destroyed because of a driver’s negligence. But I’d also love to see what it is that the insurance company has to say when they’re called up and informed about what happened.

The Driver Knew It Was Bad Immediately

In the video, you can see the driver of the carrier outside of the truck to determine the damage, jumping up and down when he realizes how extensive it really is. He can be seen clapping his hands together and looking back at the other drivers behind him in horror.

When the camera pans up, you can see the real problem. The driver thought that his load was shorter than 13 feet and ten inches, but he was sorely mistaken.

The car at the very top of the carrier likely hit the height sign and got lodged between the carrier and the underside of the bridge, sandwiching it. He jumped back into the truck to try and lodge the car out, but you can see that the hood is popped open and damaged.

The Internet Couldn’t Stop Roasting the Driver

The comments quickly turned into exactly what you’d expect from the internet: half roasting the driver, half admitting that the bridge has been terrifying truckers for years.

A surprising number of truck drivers chimed in to say the underpass gives them anxiety every time they approach it. One commenter joked that their “butt puckers up” whenever their 13-foot-6 trailer goes underneath, while another admitted the bridge still feels sketchy despite making the trip regularly. Several locals added that crashes there are practically a tradition, claiming it happens anywhere from a couple of times a year to once a month.

Of course, the driver’s appearance became a running joke. Dozens of people insisted he looked like he was “12 years old,” with others piling on by saying he got his CDL on Friday and lost it on Monday. Another commenter quipped that the trucking company must be “hiring teenagers,” while someone else joked that he’d be “grounded” after getting home.
