A New York man shared footage of a state police officer driving behind him and, eventually, rear-ending him. In a bizarre turn of events, the cop, leaving his patrol car, told him he was pulling him over for speeding.

The man in question is Benjamin Vinchenzo, who has a modest presence on TikTok, sharing clips of his day-to-day life. On May 21, he was driving to a doctor’s appointment.

At one point during his trip, a New York State Police Department (NYSP) patrol car began to drive behind him. He didn’t have an issue with that, as he would later explain in a follow-up clip.

Then, as seen in the clip attached below, Vinchenzo made a left, and the patrol car followed. What happened next took him by surprise.

Patrol Car Rear-Ending

@vinnycadgiano23 So apparently this is how New York State Police pull people over. Like seriously? #nysp #nyspfucked #lawsuitincoming #subiegang #fyp ♬ original sound – Benjamin Vinchenzo

Eventually, Vinchenzo stopped, as he had a white SUV in front of him, as shown in a second clip, this time showing the front dashcam. Moments later, the patrol car that was following him rear-ended his car.

The New York man reacted in shock, saying, “Dude, really? You just rear-ended me. Come on. Dude, I’m literally on my way to a doctor’s…”

Meanwhile, the officer exited his patrol car and approached Vinchenzo. After calling him “bud,” he then told him he was pulling him over because he was speeding, even though both cameras showed him driving at a very slow pace.

Damage, Lawsuit

Both clips ended there, but Vinchenzo has more footage that he plans to release soon. He, however, did share what the back of his SUV looked like, with the trailer hitch taking most of the damage.

In the comments, meanwhile, Vinchenzo accused the police officer of lying about his speeding. He alleged that it was a cover-up for the collision.

Vinchenzo said it more directly in another follow-up clip, in which he announced that he was suing the officer in question and also the (NYSP).

Insurance Company Will Not Pay

Regarding his vehicle, however, he claimed that sovereign immunity protected the police. This means that his insurance company will not cover the fixing costs.

Vinchenzo, then, has two options moving forward. Either he pays for the repairs up front and the NYSP reimburses him later, or the department pays directly.

He hopes that, by presenting the rest of the evidence at the NYSP headquarters, he’ll get his car sorted out. Meanwhile, he will file a FOIL request to get access to the officer’s dashcam and body cam footage.
