A neighborhood in Cincinnati was shocked to wake up to more than 50 broken-in vehicles, with shattered glass all over the place. As per the police, masked teens were the ones to blame, who managed to carry out the feat in just an hour.

As reported by WLWT, citing the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD), the incident occurred on Thursday, June 11. Residents in Mount Adams found during the morning that many of their vehicles had been compromised.

The CPD estimated that between 1 and 2 a.m., multiple masked teenagers broke into a significant number of vehicles on seven different streets. In total, they estimate that they allegedly broke into more than 50 cars.

People found shattered glass and broken windows in what they believed was going to be a peaceful night. But once surveillance footage was reviewed, everyone knew things had taken a turn for the worse.

A Swift Series of Break-Ins

Surveillance footage shared by WLWT shows the masked juvenile suspects breaking into a sedan. This triggered the alarm, of course, and one of the teens can be shown entering it through the now-broken driver’s window, swinging his legs around as they remained suspended.

Reportedly, the very first call to the police came in at 1:52 a.m. Still, the earliest footage shared with the outlet showed suspects window-smashing at around 1:30 a.m.

CPD officers took around 43 minutes to respond to Mount Adams. According to the department, officers were delayed as they had answered a call for a suicidal person downtown.

Neighbor Reactions

Following the incident, neighbors now have to deal with their damaged cars and stolen property. One of them is Abi Garces, whose red Tesla was burglarized, and now has a “whole mess to deal with.”

“Not a lot of people’s car alarms went off. I don’t know how they broke it,” she said. “And they were trying to get like golf clubs out of another neighbor’s car.”

Upset, Abi is now left with an expensive fix pending. So is Dae’Cion Kaey, who is struggling to see the point of working so hard only to get your belongings stolen in a matter of minutes.

Suspects at Large

Responding CPD officers managed to deploy a drone in the area upon arrival. They managed to capture footage of the suspects fleeing the scene in a white SUV.

As of Friday, June 12, no arrests have been announced in connection with the incident. Furthermore, it is unclear if the white SUV has been located.

The CPD detailed that the suspects only stole items from a small number of affected vehicles. While none were stolen, firearms are believed to have been the target of the burglaries.
