Classic Ford pickups aren’t difficult to find, but examples built to this level occupy a completely different corner of the market. This 1955 Ford F-100 combines its unmistakably 1950s bodywork with a Roush 427-cubic-inch V8, a five-speed manual, and a thoroughly modern chassis underneath.
The truck is currently offered by Garage Kept Motors, the original source for the listing, which describes it as a professionally built restomod finished in crisp white over a custom brown interior. Virtually everything beneath that vintage sheet metal has been upgraded with modern performance in mind.
There’s one considerable obstacle for anyone already imagining it in their garage. Garage Kept Motors is asking $239,900, putting this F-100 firmly into exotic-car territory rather than the realm of an old pickup with a few modifications.
Still, this isn’t a build where somebody simply dropped a big V8 into a 71-year-old chassis and called it finished. The drivetrain, suspension, brakes, cabin, and underlying frame have all received serious attention, creating what is effectively a modern performance truck wearing a 1955 Ford suit.
A Roush 427 V8 And A Five-Speed Manual
The centerpiece is a Roush 427ci V8, giving the F-100 the kind of soundtrack its understated exterior doesn’t immediately advertise. Garage Kept Motors doesn’t provide a horsepower figure in its listing, so we’d rather not guess at exactly how much power this particular setup is producing.
It doesn’t end there, though, as the V8 is connected to a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission. That’s an increasingly rare combination in modern performance vehicles, and it should give this restomod a distinctly old-school personality despite the much newer hardware underneath.
Power heads rearward to a Strange 9-inch rear end equipped with 3.89 gearing and Positraction. It’s a suitably serious driveline for a truck that’s clearly been designed to do something beyond looking pretty at a weekend cars-and-coffee gathering.
The Chassis Is Just As Serious
Trying to put modern V8 performance through an essentially stock 1955 truck chassis would make for a sketchy experience. This F-100 instead rides on a Roadster Shop REVO independent front suspension frame, dramatically changing what’s underneath the vintage body.
The suspension incorporates QA1 coilovers along with a four-link arrangement at the rear. Wilwood disc brakes are fitted at all four corners, providing a substantial braking upgrade to accompany the newer chassis and high-performance drivetrain.
The result should be a radically different driving experience from an original second-generation F-Series. Garage Kept Motors pitches the truck as something capable of handling road trips and regular cruising as well as show duty, rather than being a trailer-bound display piece.
Classic Looks, Modern Comfort
Visually, the builder resisted the temptation to bury the F-100 beneath an overly complicated paint scheme. The simple white exterior lets the beautifully rounded 1955 bodywork remain the focus, giving the truck an impressively clean appearance.
Inside, a custom brown cabin introduces considerably more luxury while maintaining a vintage-inspired aesthetic. A Classic Instruments gauge cluster sits ahead of the driver, while Vintage Air heating and air conditioning make the truck considerably easier to live with throughout the year.
There’s also modern infotainment integrated into the cabin, while the manual shifter occupies a prominent position on the center console. It’s a combination that preserves much of the visual character enthusiasts want from an old truck without requiring them to accept every inconvenience that came with driving one in 1955.
$239,900 Is Serious Money

None of this comes cheaply. At $239,900, the asking price places this F-100 against some genuinely formidable new performance cars, not to mention an enormous selection of collectible classics.
Whether it’s worth that amount ultimately depends on the quality of the build and just how badly someone wants this particular combination. Replicating a professionally executed restomod with a premium chassis, Roush V8, upgraded suspension, custom interior, and countless hours of fabrication isn’t exactly inexpensive either.
