Maserati Cut GranTurismo And GranCabrio Folgore EV Prices By More Than $56,000 For 2027

Maserati has dramatically reduced the price of its electric grand touring models for 2027. The GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore both receive price cuts exceeding $56,000, marking one of the most significant year-over-year reductions seen in the luxury EV segment.

The move comes as Maserati refreshes its core lineup with updates to the GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale ranges. While the Folgore models gain styling revisions and improved range, buyers will pay substantially less than they would have just a year ago.

For 2027, the GranTurismo Folgore starts at $141,995. That represents a massive $57,695 reduction compared to the 2026 model, which carried a starting price of $199,690.

The convertible GranCabrio Folgore sees a similarly steep drop. Pricing now begins at $152,195, down $56,395 from the 2026 model’s $208,590 MSRP.

Luxury EVs Become Far More Attainable

Despite the substantial discounts, the Folgore models remain firmly positioned in the luxury segment. Even so, the new pricing places them much closer to rivals and could make them considerably more appealing to buyers who previously viewed them as overpriced.

The savings are large enough to buy an entirely separate premium vehicle. A price reduction of nearly $57,000 is roughly equivalent to the cost of a new BMW i4, Acura RDX, or Mercedes-Benz EQB.

Such dramatic cuts are unusual in the automotive industry, especially for vehicles receiving updates rather than entering the end of their production cycle. Maserati is effectively offering a significantly improved product at a substantially lower price.

Updated Styling And Improved Range

The 2027 Folgore models aren’t simply discounted carryover vehicles. Maserati has refreshed both the GranTurismo and GranCabrio with revised front-end styling inspired by the company’s MCPura supercar.

The electric grand tourers also benefit from a modest range increase. Maserati says the 2027 models will exceed 250 miles of driving range, improving upon the 242-mile EPA rating of the previous version.

Powertrain specifications remain unchanged. The tri-motor electric setup continues to produce 751 horsepower, giving the Folgore models performance figures that remain competitive among luxury EVs.

The combination of improved range, updated styling, and dramatically lower pricing makes the 2027 models far more compelling on paper than their predecessors.

Low Sales Likely Influenced The Decision

The most obvious explanation for the aggressive pricing strategy is weak demand. Maserati does not break out sales figures by powertrain, but available registration data suggests the electric variants have struggled to gain traction.

According to Automotive News, only 35 GranTurismos and 41 GranCabrios were registered in the United States during the first four months of 2026. While those figures include both gasoline and electric versions, many buyers are believed to have opted for the Nettuno V6-powered models instead.

Maserati has also faced challenges across its global business. Reports indicate the automaker delivered fewer than 8,000 vehicles worldwide last year, highlighting the difficulties facing the historic Italian brand.

The sharp reduction in pricing appears designed to stimulate demand and attract buyers who may have previously dismissed the Folgore models due to their high cost.

Maserati Continues To Evaluate Its Future

The Folgore price cuts arrive as Maserati explores several options for strengthening its long-term position. Parent company Stellantis is reportedly evaluating new strategies aimed at improving the brand’s competitiveness and profitability.

Among the possibilities being discussed are new sedan models and hybrid versions of the Nettuno V6 engine. Maserati is reportedly interested in mild-hybrid and high-voltage hybrid technology rather than heavier plug-in hybrid systems.

The company is also said to be exploring potential partnerships with other automakers. Some reports have linked Maserati with possible collaborations involving Chinese technology providers, including BYD.

A Critical Moment For The Trident Brand

Maserati occupies a unique position within the automotive market. The brand sits between traditional luxury manufacturers and ultra-exclusive exotic marques, often competing for the same customers without enjoying the same level of sales success.

The 2027 Folgore pricing strategy demonstrates that Maserati is willing to make bold moves to remain competitive. Whether those cuts will be enough to significantly boost sales remains to be seen.

What is clear is that buyers interested in an electric Italian grand tourer have never had a better opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Folgore. While the cars remain expensive, they are now dramatically more accessible than they were just one year ago.
