A man took to TikTok to show off what he said was his McLaren supercar, only to have it stolen. What makes the video particularly wild is that he found it on a low-loader while driving and proved it was his car.
TikTok user CJ Venuto (@cjvenuto) said his McLaren was stolen, but he used the supercar’s vehicle-tracking system to find out where it had gone. The video opened with him driving down the highway with “They stole it,” written as a text overlay.
Frustratingly for us, the clip doesn’t provide huge amounts of detail as to how the car was stolen, what happened afterward, and how long it took the owner to track it down. But it is still an interesting story, and the video had around 100,000 views on TikTok at the time of writing.
Some of the comments on the video added to the intrigue. They suggested that the car might actually have been repossessed and not stolen. In fact, quite a few commenters thought the car had been repossessed, which only added to the intrigue surrounding the bizarre video.

In the video, we see the man who said his car was stolen drive up to it on the highway. He claimed he had killed the car’s ignition to prevent it from being driven away, which led the thieves to tow the car and then drive away. It was the vehicle tracker that led the TikTok user to find his stolen McLaren.
The video itself suggested that the car was being stolen when the TikTok user drove up to the low-loader. However, it is also possible that the car had been recovered at this point. It would be very brave of a thief not to cover it up while transporting it if they had stolen the McLaren. The driver appeared to ‘blip the blipper’ as he went past in his car, to prove that it was his car on the back of the lorry.
While it does look dramatic, tracking a car down is quite straightforward. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says various tools can stop a car from being stolen. Alarms and immobilizers can do this, and electronic transmission technology can help to track them down if thieves are successful. We do not know how this McLaren was tracked down, whether it was with a McLaren feature or an aftermarket tracker that the owner had put on the supercar.
Was the McLaren Actually Repossessed?
The comments on this TikTok video made for some very interesting reading. In fact, many of them did not believe the car had been stolen but that it was actually a repo job. “Stolen or repo?” asked one of the TikTok users. “100% repo,” said another, and most users seemed to think that the car had been repossessed.
Sadly for us, there is no information to confirm or deny what had really happened with the car, other than the TikTok user’s video caption and text overlays.
