A Louisiana police officer has been arrested following a Special Victims Unit investigation that began with a sexual assault complaint involving a juvenile. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office says Walker Police Officer Hayden McKenzie was taken into custody and booked on a charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said detectives began investigating the complaint in August 2026. The incident under investigation occurred more than a year earlier, in April 2025, according to the sheriff.
The sheriff’s office says the victim was 13 years old at the time of the incident and that it occurred in Livingston Parish. McKenzie was 22 years old at the time, according to Ard.
Detectives ultimately took McKenzie into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on the indecent behavior with a juvenile charge.

McKenzie’s arrest also prompted action from the Walker Police Department. Police Chief David Addison said McKenzie was suspended with pay after the department learned of his arrest.
Addison said the suspension was made pursuant to the department’s policies and procedures. It will remain in place pending the outcome of an administrative investigation and the disposition of the charge filed by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The police chief said department policies and procedures prohibited him from commenting further on the case at this time. The sheriff’s office similarly did not provide additional details about McKenzie’s duties with the Walker Police Department or how long he has worked there.
Special Victims Unit Investigation Remains Ongoing
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said its investigation remains active. Its announcement does not describe the conduct underlying the indecent behavior charge beyond stating that the investigation began following a sexual assault complaint involving the then-13-year-old victim.
The sheriff’s office also did not announce additional charges, identify any other suspects or provide further information about the circumstances surrounding the April 2025 incident. McKenzie was identified by the sheriff’s office as being from Walker.
McKenzie’s arrest represents an accusation rather than a conviction, and the investigation has not concluded. The Walker Police Department is also conducting its own administrative investigation while the sheriff’s office case proceeds.
