What was supposed to be a simple visit to the nail salon in Huntington Beach, California, took a shocking turn when a black Tesla crashed into a store. Authorities report that the driver, who had been parked in a handicapped space at a shopping center on Edinger Avenue, mistakenly shifted into reverse while trying to leave. In just 13 seconds, the vehicle plowed through the building, creating an enormous opening in a storefront.

The Tesla struck a pole then rolled backward through the salon’s entrance glass, finally halting partly inside, reported NBC LA. The rear section of the car ended up beside one of the salon’s styling stations, typically occupied by an attendant serving a client. Fortunately, no one occupied that spot when the vehicle crashed in. A female patron was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure, and authorities stated her injuries were not serious. Considering the appearance of the aftermath, that result was remarkably fortunate.

Those who work at the shop and its owner expressed to journalists that they were taken aback by the situation, and really, who could blame them? Scheduling a manicure doesn’t usually include a surprise subplot with a vehicle parked in the reception area. All present indicated they were just thankful the destruction was confined to the structure and did not involve anyone inside.

The salon building remained intact, according to officials. The primary damage was superficial: the front windows were broken and required replacement, with workers seen temporarily boarding up the area while repairs commenced.

How the Collapse Occurred

Authorities report that this incident did not involve speeding or a hazardous driving choice. The vehicle was reversing out of a parking space when it moved backward rather than ahead, crashing into a pole and then penetrating the salon’s front wall.

This serves as a reminder that even minor parking lot incidents can cause significant harm with a two-ton machine. It remains publicly unclear whether the cause was mistaking the pedal, a lapse in attention, or another factor, but the brief distance and rapid sequence indicate the event occurred nearly instantaneously.

A Narrow Escape That Deserves Mention

Incidents like this highlight how crucial timing can be. If a person had been stationed at that rear area, the result might have been entirely different.

Everyday parking lot collisions occur frequently, yet this case demonstrates why those restricted back sections of a store can occasionally be safer zones than they appear, at least until a vehicle unexpectedly enters the flow of work.
