A man in Graves County, Kentucky, was pulled over by deputies during a late-night traffic stop. Turns out, he was wanted on seven different warrants and is accused of providing a fake name and even attempting to run away in the middle of being handcuffed.
According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 22. At around 3 a.m., a deputy pulled over a vehicle traveling on U.S. Highway 45 north of Mayfield.
After approaching the vehicle, the deputy came across the driver. He was later identified as 32-year-old Javarrius L. Flemons, a Paducah resident.
When the officers asked Flemons to identify himself, he allegedly gave out a false name and date of birth. These belonged to someone else, and this was only the first step in a night full of revelations and altercations.
Criminal Past
Despite the misleading stream of information, the GCSO deputy eventually found out who was sitting behind the wheel of the pulled-over car. It was Flemons, and soon he discovered he had multiple active arrest warrants in neighboring McCracken County.
The GCSO detailed that, during previous arrest warrants, Flemons had successfully managed to run from the police. These included an incident that occurred back on July 15, 2024, involving a stolen Dodge Charger.
Flemons was pursued by Pulaski County authorities in Illinois to no avail, the sheriff’s office said. Weeks after the pursuit, the vehicle was recovered. Its high-performance engine had been removed.
Fleeing Attempt
After his arrest warrants were revealed, deputies attempted to arrest him. His reputation preceded him, so he didn’t go down without a fight.
As he was being placed in handcuffs, and as shown in the bodycam footage clip shared by the GCSO, Flemons managed to break away. In hopes of defying all odds, he wished to flee on foot, making this incident his eighth successful run from the police.
Unfortunately for him, he was quickly caught right in the middle of the highway. A scuffle ensued, during which two deputies received minor injuries, and he was finally arrested.
Warrants and Charges
At the time of his arrest, Flemons was wanted on seven different Kentucky warrants. His charges included receiving stolen property exceeding $10,000, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana 8 ounces to 5 pounds, and possession of drug paraphernalia, among others.
Thanks to his late-night interaction with the Graves County deputy, he now faces brand-new charges. These are theft of identity, trafficking in marijuana second or sub offense, third-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, and two counts of third-degree assault.
Flemons was initially booked into the Graves County Restricted Custody Center. He was then transferred to an out-of-county detention center.
