A Reddit user has posted what they called instant karma, with a dashcam video in the r/dashcams SubReddit that simply reads “I love when this happens.” The video shows a school bus parked at the side of the road, waiting to pick up some kids, from on board and from another car.

Then we are on board, travelling towards the school bus in the opposite direction, and there is another car in front. In the video, we can see the car we are riding in comes to a stop next to the school bus, just as it is supposed to.

The last thing that anyone wants to do is potentially run over a child who is getting in or out of the bus. Cars are meant to stop for the safety of the passengers on the bus. Yet the white car in front of the dashcam vehicle ignores the sign and drives straight on.

Whoever was driving the car clearly failed to spot the big yellow bus, its flashing red lights, and the big stop sign that was extended from its left-hand side. What made it unfortunate for the white car, however, was the presence of a police vehicle right behind the school bus.

Instant Karma Bit the Driver of the White SUV

The car in question, which appeared to be a white Ford SUV, sped straight past the school bus. The footage clearly shows the bus stopped, with its own stop sign with flashing lights deployed. The lights on the bus are also flashing, and we can see a family with kids coming out of a house on the left. Clearly, their children were ready to get onto the bus.

In North America, drivers are meant to stop at least 20 feet away from the bus when its flashing red lights are on and its stop sign is extended. Traffic travelling in both directions must stop if it is a two-lane road, and even if it is a multi-lane road, all traffic in both directions has to come to a stop too. Traffic can only begin to move again when the flashing red lights are off, and the stop sign has been retracted.

That isn’t what this driver did, however, and karma bit them instantly. It just so happened that right behind the bus was a police car, although its markings are quite subtle in the dashcam footage. Upon seeing the white Ford speed past, the police car instantly turned around and went to give chase to the Ford. The right place at the right time for the cops, and the wrong place at the wrong time for the white Ford SUV.

Reddit Users Loved This Particular Dashcam Footage

As you would expect, viewers of the footage on Reddit loved it. “Mmmm, the sweet taste of justice…” said user SecretDrifter. ”
The sweet taste of justice is right; that was perfect,” said Nyloria in response to them. The lights on the bus made those from other countries wish they had them too. User bibbiddybobbidyboo said, “Honestly, I wish we had the same rules in the UK for at least school buses. I know kids are supposed to look, but they move fast, and I might stop or slow right down, but the cars behind me might decide to go around.”

Other users discussed what the punishment might be for the driver of the white SUV. “In NC, this is a minimum $500 fine and 5 points on your license (Class 1 misdemeanor),” said therickfield. “Plus court costs, which are almost $200, I think,” added user Possible-Tangelo9344. Whatever the fine or punishment may be, this Ford driver had karma served to them instantly.
