Ford has issued another safety recall involving its popular F-150 pickup, this time over something as fundamental as the bolts holding the front seats in place. Certain trucks may have left the factory with missing or improperly tightened seat bolts, potentially increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The recall affects 2,276 Ford F-150 pickups from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 model years. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were manufactured between August 25, 2025, and September 23, 2026.
An improperly secured seat could move excessively during a collision, reducing its ability to protect the occupant. Drivers might also notice unusual rattling noises or movement coming from the affected seats.
Fortunately, Ford says it isn’t aware of any crashes or injuries linked to the defect. Owners of affected trucks will be offered a free inspection and repair at authorized dealerships.
A Missing Bolt Sparked The Investigation

The problem first came to Ford’s attention in June 2026, when a dealership technician discovered a truck with a missing driver’s seat bolt and an improperly seated front passenger bolt.
An investigation traced the issue to the assembly process, where certain seat installations weren’t completed within the allotted production time. Although the vehicles were flagged for additional repairs, some may have been released without the bolts being properly secured.
Ford subsequently reviewed production records and installation data to identify potentially affected vehicles. The company also identified 16 field reports and 56 warranty reports potentially associated with the condition.
Why It’s Important That Seats Are Properly Secured
Front seats are essential components of a vehicle’s occupant protection system, working alongside seat belts and airbags during a collision. If the seat isn’t firmly attached to the vehicle’s structure, it may not provide the intended level of restraint.
The problem doesn’t necessarily mean every recalled truck has loose or missing bolts. However, the possibility is serious enough to warrant inspecting all vehicles included in the campaign.
Ford Dealers Will Inspect The Seats For Free

Ford dealerships will inspect the front seat mounting bolts and tighten or replace them as necessary, free of charge. The company has assigned recall number 26S74, while NHTSA identifies the campaign as 26V-655.
Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed between October 26 and October 30, 2026. Affected owners can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or check their vehicle identification number through the NHTSA recall database.
For F-150 owners, this is one recall worth checking promptly. Even something as simple as an improperly tightened bolt can compromise an important part of a vehicle’s crash protection.
