Florida residents checking their home surveillance cameras in the middle of the night helped turn what police describe as a burglary in progress into an arrest involving three vehicles. Plantation police say 22-year-old Travoris Davis was found nearby carrying a bag containing property taken during vehicle burglaries.
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Southwest 55th Avenue at approximately 2:28 a.m. on September 16. Residents had contacted police after their surveillance cameras showed a person attempting to enter their vehicle.
Plantation police began searching the surrounding area with assistance from Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation and a Plantation Police K9. Officers soon located a man matching the description provided by residents and detained him.
Police identified the man as Davis and said he was carrying a bag containing numerous items consistent with stolen property. As officers continued investigating, they determined that three vehicles in the surrounding area had been burglarized.

Among the property police say they recovered from Davis’s bag were AirPods, prescription medication and disabled parking permits. Investigators connected the items to the vehicle burglaries and returned the recovered property to its owners.
Davis was arrested on three counts of armed burglary of a conveyance and one count of second-degree petit theft. Police did not specify in their announcement what made each of the three burglary accusations “armed” or provide additional details about any weapon involved.
The department said the investigation remains ongoing and warned that additional charges could follow. Davis was subsequently transported to the Broward County Main Jail for booking.
Jail Records Show Davis Being Held on 4 Pending Charges
Broward County jail records show Davis was arrested by Plantation police on September 16 and remained listed at the Main Jail in the information provided. His record contains three separate pending-trial entries for armed burglary of a dwelling, structure or conveyance.
The fourth entry is a pending-trial charge of second-degree petit theft as a first offense. Each of the four charges lists a $0 bond amount in the available jail record, and no expected release date is provided.
Plantation police credited alert residents, Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation, and the department’s K9 resources with helping officers make the arrest and recover the stolen property. The charges against Davis remain accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
