A group of teenage boys in Illinois had a fairly straightforward answer when a man allegedly asked them to leave with him in his Cadillac Escalade to film a commercial.
They said no.
In a public press release, the Huntley Police Department said the boys left the area and reported the encounter. Police identified Alexander Mak during the investigation and said they learned of two additional incidents involving similar reported behavior.
Mak, 43, of Miami, was charged with four counts of disorderly conduct, all Class C misdemeanors.

At about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, police were notified about a group of young teenage boys who said a man had approached them in a public parking lot.
The boys said the man told them he was filming a commercial and asked them to leave with him in his black Cadillac Escalade.
They declined, left the area, and reported the encounter to police.
Police said the man did not make physical contact with the boys or use force in an attempt to get them to leave with him.
Officers began searching for him and, using information from the boys and evidence gathered during the investigation, identified Mak.

The first report wasn’t the only one police found.
Officers learned of two additional incidents involving similar reported behavior by Mak.
In each, police said Mak approached a teenager or young adult and attempted to persuade that person to accompany him to “film a commercial.”
Witnesses described his behavior as persistent or pushy.
Police said they had received no allegations of physical contact or force in any of the encounters, and no abductions had been reported.

Mak voluntarily went to the Huntley Police Department on Sunday morning for questioning.
Following the investigation, police charged him with four counts of disorderly conduct.
Mak was released with a future court date because the misdemeanor offenses he was charged with do not qualify for pretrial detention under Illinois law.
Huntley police credited the boys with recognizing that the encounter made them uncomfortable, leaving the area, and quickly reporting what happened.
Deputy Police Chief Kevin Keane said the episode was also a reminder for parents and caregivers to talk with children and teenagers about trusting their instincts, keeping their distance from unfamiliar people, and seeking help from a trusted adult or police when something does not feel right.
