Body camera footage released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and later shared by the Midwest Safety YouTube channel is drawing renewed attention to a mounted police pursuit. It unfolded in Jacksonville, Florida, earlier this year.
The footage shows officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit pursuing a suspect. The suspect is accused of participating in a drug transaction before fleeing on foot through streets, parking lots, and a McDonald’s property.
The incident occurred in early February 2025, but the video has reached a wider audience after Midwest Safety uploaded a compilation of the body camera footage on June 10, 2026. The channel regularly features law enforcement recordings from agencies across the United States.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit ended with the arrest of 25-year-old Jordan Wilson. The arrest comes after mounted officers tracked him for roughly a quarter mile through a commercial area of the city.
Officers Witness Alleged Drug Transaction

The encounter began when members of the JSO Mounted Unit observed what they believed was a hand-to-hand drug transaction involving a man later identified as Wilson and a woman standing nearby. After witnessing the exchange, officers moved in to investigate.
Rather than remain at the scene, Wilson ran, prompting mounted officers to begin a pursuit. Body camera footage captures officers urging him to stop as he crossed streets and moved through traffic.
Mounted Officer Cassie Haire, riding Police Service Horse Nash, took the lead position during the chase while other mounted officers provided support. Radio communications and commands can be heard throughout the footage as officers coordinated their movements and tracked the suspect’s direction of travel.
Pursuit Moves Through McDonald’s Property
As Wilson continued running, the chase entered the parking lot and drive-thru area of a nearby McDonald’s restaurant. Investigators later stated that Wilson appeared to remove and discard items from his pockets while running.
Officers subsequently returned to several locations along the route to search for possible evidence connected to the investigation. The body camera footage shows officers maneuvering their horses through the commercial area while directing Wilson to surrender.
At various points, officers warned him about the risk of being struck by the horse if he failed to stop. The pursuit continued along sidewalks, fence lines, and parking areas as mounted officers attempted to close the distance. Footage from Nash’s rider shows the horse maintaining pace while officers continued issuing commands.
Horse Patrol Plays Key Role in Arrest
The chase ended when Wilson stopped running and surrendered to officers. He was taken into custody without reports of significant injuries.
The woman involved in the alleged drug transaction was also detained as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the encounter. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office later highlighted the incident on social media, using the phrase “can’t hide from our horsepower” while showcasing the role played by the Mounted Unit.
Mounted patrols remain a visible part of law enforcement operations in Jacksonville. While often associated with crowd management and community engagement, the February incident demonstrated how mounted officers can also assist in pursuing suspects across areas that may present challenges for patrol vehicles.
Footage Gains New Attention in 2026
Although the pursuit occurred in February 2025, public interest has increased after Midwest Safety republished the footage more than a year later. The video provides a detailed look at the pursuit from the perspective of mounted officers, including radio traffic, commands, and the movements of the horses involved.
Nash, along with fellow police horses Jaxx, Judge, and Duke, assisted officers during the operation. Authorities said Wilson ultimately faced charges connected to the alleged drug activity as well as his attempt to evade officers.
The case continues to attract viewers online because of the unusual sight of mounted officers pursuing a fleeing suspect through traffic lanes and a fast-food parking lot. For the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the footage serves as a public demonstration of how mounted patrol units can be deployed during enforcement operations in urban settings.
