A classic case of a former employee damaging company property has come to light, this time from Florida, highlighting the lengths people can go to make a point or to simply take revenge.
A clever plot was planned by an ex-Amazon employee to damage vehicles and get rid of any evidence so that he would not appear on the police radar.
However, the fired employee failed miserably in his plot, as deputies were not only able to trace him, but they also retrieved the stolen key fobs of the vehicles from the bottom of the river.
While the details of the reason for the employee’s frustration have not been revealed, the incident highlights how such acts can get someone caught in no time, even if the evidence is dumped in a water body.
Ex-Amazon Worker Punctures Bodywork and Slashes Tires of 29 Vehicles

While the motive behind the former worker’s act is not known, the incident reveals that not only did he damage 29 vehicles, but he also stole 23 key fobs, only to make them disappear.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated that a person had visited the Amazon facility, located off Logistics Drive, at night, to cause damage to the 29 delivery vehicles.
A report by WFLA confirms that punctures on the bodies of those delivery vehicles were also observed, and key fobs of some vehicles were missing from the facility.
The authorities soon found out through license plate reader cameras that the suspect was a recently fired employee, Anthony Gillio, as he was spotted in the area when the crime occurred.
It is not known how Gillio gained access to the facility, including where the key fobs are stored. It did not take long for investigators to trace Gillio, and upon questioning him, they realized that he had thrown the key fobs, a knife, and gloves into the Caloosahatchee River.
Police Search Caloosahatchee River for Missing Items
Soon after receiving details from Gillio, investigators reached the spot where the 22-year-old former Amazon employee had thrown the items into the river in a bid to get rid of evidence.
However, Gillio’s plan did not go as expected. While one would assume that a flowing river would have taken the key fobs and other items with it, it appears that investigators were able to retrieve some items from the riverbed.
The report stated that not only did a detective find some of the key fobs from a spot near the riverbank, but he also found the red knife allegedly used by Gillio to commit the crime.
Fortunately, the river was shallow around the spot where the items had been dumped by Gillio, which made it easier for the detective to locate them, as seen in a video uploaded on Instagram.

The footage shows a detective collecting key fobs from the waist-deep river and dropping them at the spot where the camera was placed, highlighting the police department’s dedication to ensuring justice is served.
Gillio was arrested for the crimes he committed, including tampering with evidence, two counts of criminal mischief, and grand theft.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno applauded his team for solving the case in a short time with a high level of dedication. He said:
“I am so proud of the amazing agency members that I have on my team. This line of work takes a lot of hard work and dedication. This shows just how far we will go to bring justice to our community members and local businesses.”
