Fast & Furious Star Sung Kang’s Toyota Supra Is A Work Of Art

Sung Kang originally had no intention of modifying his Toyota GR Supra. With a six-speed manual transmission and styling he already considered close to perfect from the factory, there wasn’t much he felt needed changing.

Then a trip to Germany changed his mind. After meeting members of the ADRO team, the Fast & Furious star began imagining a Supra that could look lower, wider and more aggressive without losing the character Toyota’s designers gave it.

The result is a deeply personalized build named Stella. Rather than transforming the Supra into an extravagant show car, Kang and ADRO pursued an OEM-plus approach where someone walking past might need a second look to realize just how extensively it has been modified.

That restraint is precisely what makes Stella so striking. Carbon fiber, functional aero, upgraded suspension, custom exhaust work, and carefully selected wheels are all present, yet none overwhelms the original shape of the car.

ADRO Wanted It Low And Wide

ADRO’s philosophy for the project centered on two classic sports-car proportions: low and wide. The company fitted its facelift front bumper and V2 front lip, reshaping the Supra’s face while deliberately avoiding the appearance of an oversized aftermarket body kit.

The lip incorporates small canards, which Kang jokingly described as the car’s “earrings.” Unlike some cosmetic additions elsewhere on the build, ADRO says these are functional pieces designed to contribute front downforce.

Above them sits a prepreg carbon-fiber hood with Kevlar through its center section. According to ADRO, it weighs roughly half as much as the factory hood without sacrificing rigidity.

Another important part of the build philosophy is reversibility. ADRO says none of these components require cutting the Supra, meaning Kang could return the car to stock in the future if he wanted.

Even The Side Skirts Have A Job

Moving down the car reveals ADRO’s V2 side skirts, which incorporate a curved section intended to help extract air from behind the front tire and reduce drag. A carbon-fiber door garnish sits above them, although ADRO readily admits that particular piece exists primarily because it looks good.

The restraint continues at the rear. Rather than fitting the sort of enormous wing often associated with modified Supras, Stella receives a dual-element spoiler shaped around the contours of the factory trunk.

ADRO says the design allows airflow to remain attached around the spoiler while generating additional downforce without creating unnecessary drag. Kang particularly appreciated how closely the piece follows the Supra’s existing lines.

Stella Debuts ADRO’s New Supra Diffuser

There’s also something on Kang’s car that other ADRO Supra owners didn’t have when the video was filmed. Stella became the first Supra fitted with ADRO’s new V2 rear diffuser, which had yet to be released publicly.

The diffuser is considerably more aggressive than the factory component, yet its surfaces were shaped to follow the curvature of the original bumper. It also retains the car’s sensors and central F1-style rear light, while once again requiring no permanent cutting.

That attention to integration comes from an interesting mix of design and motorsport experience. The ADRO designer presenting the car said he previously spent 11 years as an exterior designer with Mercedes and Rivian, while the company’s chief aerodynamicist has a background with Williams F1.

BBS, KW, and MagnaFlow Complete The Build

Bodywork is only part of Stella’s transformation. The Supra rides on BBS LM2 wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan tires, with KW V3 dampers changing its stance and chassis setup.

MagnaFlow supplied a one-off exhaust system, while King’s Auto Body handled assembly. Combined with ADRO’s aero package, the modifications give Kang exactly the balance he was looking for: a Supra that clearly isn’t stock without appearing desperate to announce every modification.

The name Stella has personal significance as well. Kang said it was inspired by a woman he met in Düsseldorf, Germany, whom he associated with reliability, humility, and the same balance between function and beauty he wanted from the car.

Kang now calls Stella his favorite Supra, which is quite the turnaround for someone who initially wondered why anybody would mess with the factory car. Looking at the finished build, it’s easy to understand why he changed his mind.
