Buying a new car can be an exciting time in your life. Once you’ve gotten through the stress of filling out all of that paperwork (and sweating through the finance approval part), sliding behind the wheel of your new automobile can feel like crossing the finish line.

That’s especially true when your new wheels are something you’ve always wanted, like a cherry red convertible. It looks like that’s exactly what happened to TikToker @macey_mexico’s dad when he and her mom came over to show off their brand-new ride.

It was such an exciting moment that the family even captured it on camera, which is exactly when the unthinkable happened and the TikToker’s father promptly backed the new car into the gate next to his daughter’s driveway. While it doesn’t look like the physical damage was too bad, one has to imagine that the hit dad’s ego was probably a lot more substantial.

Now, the video is going viral as people chime in to share their thoughts about the clip and joke about the absolutely hilarious way the entire family responded to the unexpected (and slow moving) car crash.

It Was a Bright and Sunny Day When the Accident Happened

There wasn’t a cloud in the sky while @macey_mexico was videoing her father and mother as they backed down the driveway. In fact, everyone was all smiles and waving as the TikToker yelled out, “Watch the gate,” while her parents headed toward the road.

You can even see the moment the car made impact, when both the mom and dad realized what had happened. Then the camera slowly panned over to what appeared to be another sister who gave the perfect amount of side-eye to her sister.

The Car Had a Bit of Damage

After the parents got out of the car to inspect the damage, it was clear that they would need to have some work done to fix the vehicle. There appeared to be a small dent as well as several places where the paint had been scraped off.

However, Dad didn’t let that get him down, and he yelled, “That will get fixed,” as he and his wife once again got into the vehicle. This time they opted to drive out instead of backing down the driveway, which someone off-screen joked was probably what they should’ve done in the first place.

The Video Went Viral

In just five days, the video had received more than 81,000 likes and hundreds of comments. People couldn’t help but giggle over the situation, likely because nobody had gotten hurt and everyone seemed pretty chill about the whole thing.

“Thanksgiving topic for the next 35 years,” one person wrote.

“He just threw it in reverse and looked straight ahead,” another person added, along with two crying-laughing emojis.

“I love your dad,” a third person wrote. “It takes a really good man to shrug off a mistake and admit they should have done something different without getting mad. He reminds me of my papa and kinda made me tear up a little. I miss him so much.”

The dad was definitely a good sport about the whole thing, especially considering how someone in the comments wrote that he could be looking at a pretty hefty bill. But as long as the family keeps a good sense of humor about things, it’s probably not going to bother them too much.
