Jeep has revealed the 2027 Wrangler Switchback, the final installment in its yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve special-edition series. The latest model takes inspiration from the Wrangler’s long tradition of customization, combining mismatched body panels with bright green accents.
Based on the Wrangler Rubicon X, the Switchback embraces a look usually associated with heavily personalized off-roaders. Its contrasting doors and hood give the impression that parts have been swapped between two differently colored Jeeps.
The unusual appearance is entirely intentional, with Jeep incorporating the mismatched components into the production process. Buyers can choose between two-door and four-door configurations, both featuring exclusive exterior and interior details.
The Switchback concludes a 12-month campaign celebrating Jeep’s 85-year history, with previous editions drawing inspiration from military vehicles, retro styling, and off-road culture. This final release takes a noticeably different approach, borrowing visual influences from contemporary gaming and digital design.
Jeep Actually Swaps Body Panels At The Factory

The Switchback combines Gloss Black and Sting-Gray paintwork, with doors and dual-vented power-dome hoods finished in contrasting colors. Black Wranglers receive gray components, while gray examples get black panels.
Jeep achieves this unusual appearance by sequencing differently colored vehicles together during assembly. Their doors are exchanged on the production line, while the hoods are swapped later at an upfitting facility.
Bright Gecko green accents add another layer of contrast, appearing on the grille surround, hood graphics, swing-gate decal, and beadlock wheel rings. Jeep says this marks the first time it has offered brightly colored beadlock wheel rings on a production Wrangler.
The Interior Gets Its Own Colorful Details
Inside, the Switchback features Global Black Nappa leather seats with exclusive debossed-style logos. Sea Salt-colored Nappa leather covers the dashboard surround, door armrests, and center-console lid, complemented by Pearl and Lime stitching.
Special touches include unique graphics around the climate-control vents, a Willys-inspired shifter medallion, and a commemorative plaque on the rear swing gate. The plaque incorporates Wrangler illustrations, technical details, and references to Detroit and Toledo.
The Final Chapter Of Twelve 4 Twelve

The Switchback follows 11 earlier special editions, including the V8-powered Willys 392, retro-inspired Rewind, and military-themed Sarge. Each release highlighted a different aspect of the Wrangler’s history or enthusiast community.
Orders open in November 2026, with the Switchback package priced at $2,870. Including the $1,995 destination charge, the two-door model starts at $66,695, while the four-door costs $69,995.
With its factory-swapped body panels and distinctive green accents, the Switchback provides an appropriately unconventional conclusion to Jeep’s yearlong celebration. It also demonstrates how much visual variety the Wrangler’s familiar design can accommodate.
