The current Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is on the way out, as the next generation of the American pickup truck is on the way. Yet American companies Callaway Cars and Waldoch Crafts are not ready to let this generation go out on a whimper.
Instead, the tuning house and premium truck company have combined forces to present what many might see as the ultimate Silverado 1500. Say hello to the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado Launch Edition, and the best thing about these is that dealers can order them just like any other pickup truck.
These special versions of the Silverado are extremely limited in number. The two companies have said that only 100 units will be produced, all of which will, of course, be sold in America. It combines the best of Callaway’s tuning and engine expertise with that of Waldoch’s styling and suspension work.
Chevrolet is giving us a redesigned Silverado lineup for 2027. This ensures that the current model goes out in style. It is also the first product produced by the tie-up between the two family-run companies, each of which has created some remarkable specialist vehicles since the 1970s.
This Special Chevy Silverado Has Plenty of Power Under the Hood
Headlining the new version of the truck is the power under the hood. Callaway is well known for tuning engines to peak performance, particularly with cars like the Chevrolet Corvette. Under the hood of this special Silverado is Callaway’s supercharged SC602 package, which includes the TripleCooled 2650cc Roots-type supercharger. This lifts power output up to 602hp and 560lb-ft of torque for the 6.2-liter L87 V8 engine.
That puts this special truck right into the mix compared to the likes of the Ford F-150 Raptor R. It still falls short of that 900hp monster, but it is a lot closer than it was before. Waldoch has lent its expert hand to the project too, with lowered suspension and a new Callaway-Waldoch 22-inch wheel design as the icing on the cake. Color-keyed rocker extensions help differentiate the truck from the standard Silverado 1500 RST that it started as.
A bonus for buyers is that, as it can be sold via Chevrolet dealerships, they keep the factory backing that comes with every other truck. So the special edition has a three-year/36,000 mile supplementary warranty from both Callaway and Waldoch, alongside the standard General Motors/Chevrolet warranty coverage. So you are not covered any less than you would be with a normal Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
How Much Does This Special Silverado Cost?
At the time of writing, order books for the 100-unit run had just been opened. The truck can be ordered via participating Chevrolet dealers, and prices start in the mid-$90,000 range for the special edition of the truck. The two companies state that builds will start later in 2026. With it so close to the end of the year, these trucks will serve as a special farewell to the current Silverado.
The hope is that this project will start a long-lasting relationship between Callaway and Waldoch. The two parties do not intend for this to be a ‘one-and-done’ exercise, and it opens up the door for some interesting collaborations alongside Chevrolet in the future. Maybe the two can collaborate on a special Callaway-Waldoch version of the latest Corvette sports car?
