An Arizona state trooper’s pickup truck was struck twice during a series of collisions on Interstate 17 in Phoenix early Saturday morning, with the final crash unfolding on camera as troopers investigated the earlier wrecks.
A Key News Network photographer was filming the aftermath of a previous collision when a Dodge Neon entered the scene and crashed into multiple vehicles. The footage begins with troopers working around the damaged vehicles before capturing the approaching Dodge and the impact.
The crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. October 31, 2026, in the northbound lanes of I-17 near Thunderbird Road. According to Key News Network, the incident began when an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper responded to an earlier traffic collision near the right shoulder.
While the trooper was investigating, a Hyundai Santa Fe struck the rear of his unmarked Ford F-150 pickup truck. The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. KNN reports that the Hyundai driver underwent field sobriety testing and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

As additional troopers investigated the Hyundai collision, the Dodge Neon entered the scene. KNN reports that the car sideswiped a DPS Chevrolet Tahoe, struck the rear of the Hyundai Santa Fe, and then crashed into the Ford F-150 that had already been hit.
The video captures the Dodge approaching and colliding with the vehicles as troopers work nearby. Because the photographer was documenting the earlier crashes, viewers can see the existing accident scene before the next collision occurs.
Troopers helped the Dodge driver out of the vehicle, and firefighters responded to evaluate him. According to KNN, the driver was not transported to a hospital.
The Dodge driver also underwent field sobriety testing and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. Troopers then worked to move the damaged vehicles out of the roadway to prevent additional collisions.
Driver Identities and Charges Remain Unconfirmed
At the time of publication, Guessing Headlights does not have official information from the Arizona Department of Public Safety identifying the drivers or confirming their formal charges.
The two suspected DUI arrests have been reported by Key News Network. The video documents the Dodge collision, but footage alone cannot establish whether a driver was impaired or what caused the crash.
Additional details, including the identities of those arrested, the precise charges filed, and the status of the investigation, remain unconfirmed. This story will be updated if further verified information becomes available.
