A teenager in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is facing mulitple charges after he allegedly burglarizing mulitple vehicles in a local neighborhood. He is accused of breaking into eight cars in the area and stealing a variety of items, including firearms, all in the span of five days.

According to a Facebook post made by the Cheyenne Police Department, the numerous incidents occurred between May 13 and May 19. CPD officers responded to the Sun Valley neighborhood after receiving reports of vehicle burglaries.

In total, as mentioned above, someone had broken into eight vehicles in the area. The suspect, allegedly, then took a variety of items from the vehicles and ran.

As per the CPD, these included electronics, wallets, and credit cards. However, on two occasions, firearms were stolen.

AirPods Lead Police To Suspect

The CPD began investigating the case in the hopes of finding those responsible for the numerous burglaries. However, search warrants, interviews, and DNA evidence pointed toward a single suspect: 19-year-old Anthony Graham.

Unfortunately for him, he made a terrible mistake. Allegedly, he stole a pair of Apple AirPods from one of the many burglarized vehicles.

The owner managed to track the AirPods and shared location data with CPD detectives for weeks. Repeatedly, the police department said, Graham’s residence appeared on the tracking data.

Suspect Located and Arrested

As the investigation progressed, CPD officers made a significant finding. Detectives managed to recover the two firearms that had been allegedly stolen, which drew them closer to Graham.

Ironically, the one who made his arrest possible was the 19-year-old himself. As per the police, Graham appeared at the city courthouse for an unrelated case.

As a result, he was taken into custody without incident. He was then charged with six counts of burglary and two counts of aggravated burglary, linked to the two firearms that were stolen. Additionally, police found that Graham also had an active warrant for failure to appear on a previous burglary charge.

If convicted of his aggravated burglary charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison for each count. Worst-case scenario: Graham could see the light of day when he turns 69.

Wyoming Residents React to Burglaries

While Graham has now been arrested, the alleged victims’ experienced trauma is far from disappearing. Multiple neighbors, victims of the Sun Valley burglaries, talked to Wyoming News Now, sharing their distress.

One resident said, “They didn’t just rummage through my things; they completely tore the interior apart. […] While they took a few physical items, the most significant thing stolen from me was my peace of mind.”

As per the outlet, vehicle burglaries increased in 144% in May. Regarding this particular case, the CPD stated that it remains under investigation.
