This Tesla Went on a Wild Ride in Mexico City as It Ploughed Through a Home

We’ve probably all seen a video of a wild car crash before. They can be crazy to watch, but a recent social media video of a Tesla crash is one of the most dramatic we’ve seen.

The video has been circulating online, and it’s gained a lot of attention on social media. In it, security cameras captured the moment a Tesla EV flew through a home in Mexico City before coming to rest out of frame.

The car appears to have shot through the home’s entrance at crazy speed, with a truck driver coming the other way and, no doubt, getting a massive shock. Thankfully, the Tesla missed the truck and avoided an accident that could have been worse.

Reports stated that the crash took place in Mexico City’s Lomas del Chamizal neighborhood. It does not appear, however, that this was deliberate or that the driver was trying to harm anyone. It appears the Tesla driver simply lost control on one of the city’s tighter, twistier roads.

How the Tesla Driver Crashed Through a Home

The accident took place on Lomas del Chamizal. This area sits on steep and winding terrain in the Cuajimalpa district. The roads in this part of the city descend sharply and have many sharp curves, and the road where the accident occurred was described as steep and sharp. Those factors contributed to the accident that befell the Tesla.

Mexico City’s Secretariat of Citizen Security said the EV driver lost control while rounding a sharp curve. Another explanation suggested the driver had swerved to avoid a dump truck coming up the hill, although the truck in the footage won’t have been in sight of the driver until the last second. Incredibly, the driver of the car reportedly escaped without injury.

It isn’t known whether there were any other occupants in the Tesla, or whether those inside the house escaped without injury. The house sustained significant damage, with the entrance gate taking the brunt of the impact. The perimeter walls and fence were also badly damaged, as was the terrace. The EV itself was clearly badly damaged, even more so after it flew through the air.

It’s unlikely the Tesla will be usable again after this massive accident.

How Fast Was the Tesla Going?

We don’t know yet how fast the Tesla was going. Reports said it was “speeding,” which is pretty obvious from the footage. Even if the driver was braking, there was clearly nowhere near enough time to slow the car before impact.

The force with which it went through the house and flew over the other side is almost impressive, and the car dropped several meters to a lower level outside of the residence. It seems like a minor miracle that the driver escaped without major injuries.
