According to 13 Action News, Lane said the incident began when she came across the man’s pickup truck stopped near a train crossing on Oakdale. She explained that the driver was waiting for a train, and she drove around his truck to turn onto White Street.
Lane also explained that the pickup truck was pulling a trailer. She claimed that as she drove around him, the driver tried to take off and hit her vehicle.
She said she believed the driver was trying to run her off the road. Lane then cut in front of another car to get away, but the pickup truck kept following her.
According to Lane, the driver began revving his engine and getting dangerously close to the back of her car when she stopped at a stop sign. She initially recorded behind her but then put her phone outside the window in case the truck hit her, as she wanted to capture the whole situation.
The Driver Gets Out
Lane said the driver eventually parked his truck and walked toward her vehicle. She rolled up her windows while continuing to record him.
According to her account, she initially couldn’t make out what the man was saying. However, she said he noticed that she was recording him and began yelling before she drove away.
Lane explained that her three sons, ages 10, 5, and 1, were inside the car during the incident. She said her biggest concern was that the man might hurt her in front of her children, but she tried to remain calm for their sake.
Police Report Filed After the Incident
Lane reported the incident to Toledo police. However, she said officers told her there was not much they could do because the man had not threatened her.
She also said she had never met the man before and believed the confrontation started because she drove around his truck while it was stopped near the train crossing.
Lane told 13 Action News that she hoped the business owner would get help, explaining that he had children of his own. She also expressed concern that a similar confrontation could have a different outcome in the future.
No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
