A woman has vented her frustrations in a TikTok video after buying a certified pre-owned luxury Genesis GV70 SUV, only for it to begin leaking fluid onto the floor. In fact, she vowed never to buy another Genesis product again after the ordeal.
TikTok user @thenursethatcooks is trying to encourage her followers and viewers to think about buying other cars that are not a Genesis GV70. She took to TikTok to say she bought the certified pre-owned 2023 GV70 last year, and that the car had only 19,000 miles on the odometer, so it was almost brand new.
She specifically chose to buy the car from a Genesis dealer so she could get the “bells and whistles” treatment and get the warranty coverage that came with the car. However, it took only three months for the dream of owning the GV70 to turn into a nightmare for the TikTok user.
In her video, she said that there was an issue with the air conditioning. So it was taken back for fixing, only for another problem to crop up. This was the start of several issues, which culminated in her husband finding out that there was fluid leaking into the car.
What Was Wrong With the Genesis GV70?
@thenursethatcooks IDK WHY I DIDN’T GO WITH MY HAITIAN MIND AND GET A DAMN LEXUS OR A TOYOTA!! PART 1 on why I will never ever buy another car from Genesis. BOTTOM TIER “luxury”!! #genesis #lemoncar #gv70 ♬ original sound – Thenursethatcooks
Three months after she bought the car, the TikTok user said there was an issue with the car’s air conditioning. It was a prior issue with the car fixed by Genesis, but the issue came back three months later, with the driver’s side vents blowing hot air out. The TikTok user had no idea what was going on, but the repair was carried out by Genesis at no cost because it was covered under her warranty.
It was then that another problem came to light. She and her husband were driving the car when he noticed that the car was ‘pulling.’ The two stopped their journey, and then the TikTok user discovered that there was fluid underneath the car. Her husband determined it had come from the radiator, so he bought more to refill it. But as soon as it was poured in, it just came leaking straight back out of the car.
Back to the dealership it went, and user @thenursethatcooks said that a pressure test was performed on the car while it was there. They determined that the radiator had someho wbecome puncture, but was told the repair was not covered under her warranty and thus she would have to pay around $4,000 to get it fixed. Thankfully, she went through her insurance to get it paid for and fixed, but that wasn’t the end of the ordeal. Follow-up videos revealed there were more problems with the GV70.
More Problems Cropped Up With the Genesis

In her later videos, @thenursethatcooks documented what was going on with the Genesis. After all that she went through, she decided that she couldn’t recommend that anyone buy the cars after all her frustrations. “I just got my car back this week, and the issue has not been fixed. They told me since they cannot duplicate the problem that the car basically has no problem,” she said.
“However, I do have a case manager, and my case was escalated. They’re trying to see if I can qualify for a buyback or lemon law,” she added. While the warranty for Genesis certified pre-owned cars is good, it does have some limits. For example, the warranty can exclude damage caused by accidents, off-road misuse, and outside impacts. The latter could have been what caused the radiator to be damaged in the TikTok user’s car. Whatever the case, it is easy to sympathize when you buy a car that is nearly brand new, and then it gives you so much trouble.
