If you haven’t had a look at the r/dashcams subreddit on Reddit, then we urge you to do so as soon as you can. It provides some of the wildest dashcam footage you can dream of and often showcases the worst driving possible.
One video emerged just a few days ago, posted by user ExplanationMiddle51. The video comes from onboard a car, and we are heading to a set of traffic lights with a motorcyclist in front of us. It all looks perfectly normal as all the vehicles come up to the lights.
It is after the cars and motorbike have stopped that things take a strange turn. All of a sudden, someone runs up from the right-hand side and tries to square up to the guy on the motorcycle. And there doesn’t appear to be any clear explanation as to why.
The whole clip lasts just 39 seconds, yet it’s long enough to leave us incredibly confused. From where we are sat, the motorcyclist has done nothing wrong and just appears to be minding his own business. It makes you wonder if there was perhaps something a bit more sinister being attempted by the man who ran up to the biker.
This Is What the Strange Dashcam Footage Shows Us
Dude tries to square up with motorcyclist

The footage initially doesn’t show that anything is amiss. The bike pulls up behind the van in front of it, with our car just behind as we head towards the traffic lights. All traffic around us stops, and it stays like that for a couple of seconds. It is then that a random guy appears from the right, totally out of nowhere, and runs towards the biker.
But if you rewind the footage a few seconds, you can see where he has come from. The cars and bike pass a bus shelter on the right-hand side, and it is this guy who then suddenly charges towards the bike. After he does so, he tries to square up to the biker, who, despite the red lights, is not willing to find out what the guy wanted. Instead, he gets on the power and gets out of the situation as fast as he can.
Given that this man appears to have charged at random from the bus shelter, it’s possible he was trying to rob the biker, or perhaps even steal his motorbike. Sadly, we can’t get confirmation on that, but the biker clearly wasn’t going to hang around to find out what the guy wanted. Whatever he wanted, it didn’t look like he was going to take no for an answer, so getting out of there was the best thing the biker could do.
Reddit Users Were Also Confused by the Man’s Actions

Some Reddit users who watched the video were quite perplexed by what they had seen. “Wtf? Motorcyclist was smart to just get the fuck out, though. Good call,” said the top comment on the video. “Riding off was the smartest move; nothing good comes from engaging, and he stayed calm and got out of there safely. Dashcam footage like this is a good reminder to just let it go,” said another user below that comment.
“Always give yourself a quick exit when pulling up behind another vehicle,” said another user, and that was certainly smart advice. “Honestly, I respect the reaction, zero reciprocated aggression; just bail the [expletive] out. It has risks, of course, but I wouldn’t hang around to argue about it,” said another. The consensus was that the rider was right not to even dare interact with the man, and to just get out of the situation as fast as possible.
