Dashcam Footage Shows Selfish Driver Refusing To Move for a Fire Truck

Dashcam videos can showcase the worst and the best of people’s driving. Usually, it is the worst, as footage of people driving correctly would be quite boring. One video that has recently emerged on Reddit might be quite triggering, as it shows someone refusing to move for a fire truck.

Yes, you did indeed read that right. Footage on the r/dashcams subreddit has showcased a fire truck, clearly needing to get somewhere in a hurry, and being blocked by the car with the dashcam. It really has to be seen to be believed.

It’s clear that the fire truck is trying to get somewhere, with its lights flashing and sirens blaring. The driver of the truck can be seen sticking his head out of the window in anger, clearly not happy that his path has been blocked by some random motorist.

Unsurprisingly, this footage created a lot of discussion, with the vast majority naturally aiming at the driver of the truck. The video had 13,000 upvotes and 2,000 comments at the time of writing. Calling this triggering might be a bit much, but nobody wants to see emergency services blocked.

The Dashcam Car Completely Blocked the Fire Truck

The footage shows a fire truck, with its lights on and siren wailing, pulling out of its station and into the road. Its path, however, is blocked by our dashcam driver, who is sitting straddling the two sides of the road. A fire truck isn’t the most agile vehicle in the world, so its path took it directly in front of the car.

Most people would simply reverse out of the way at this point, or do whatever they could to not be hit by the truck. Yet this driver just sat there, clearly not caring about what they were doing. Towards the end of the clip, we can hear the driver of the truck shouting at him to get out of the way, and the driver of the car we are on board appears to ignore him too and just sit there.

From what can be seen in the footage, it would only take a slight backup from the dashcam car for the fire truck to be able to move. Yet the driver just didn’t seem to care. What makes the footage more remarkable is that the fire truck decides enough is enough and drives forward and hits the car in question. Yet the driver of the car honks their horn, as if they haven’t done anything wrong! Who can blame the fire truck driver, though? Nobody wants to be blocked in like that on the way to an emergency.

Reddit Users Were Appalled by the Driver’s Behaviour

Unsurprisingly, nobody in the comments section had sympathy for the driver of the car. “Believe it or not, straight to jail,” one user said, referring to what they thought should happen to the car’s driver. “And lose your license for the rest of your life,” added another, who couldn’t believe what they had been watching. It really doesn’t seem believable that someone could do this, until you watch it.

“Usually I see this comment left as a joke…but, yeah, what the actual [expletive] am I looking at? Literally put this guy in jail for the appropriate amount of time,” added another user. Remarkably, people are out there who are this selfish. We don’t know the nature of the emergency this fire truck was driving to, but it quite clearly was serious enough that all its lights were flashing and the siren was going the second it pulled out of the station. Imagine being responsible for a fire truck getting somewhere late and potentially costing lives.
