Lift kits and oversized off-road tires have become almost the default recipe for modified pickup trucks. Fox Factory Vehicles has decided to head in exactly the opposite direction with its latest Chevrolet Silverado build.
Meet the Lowered Chevrolet Silverado Black Widow SR, a street-focused pickup that sits three inches closer to the pavement. It combines wide tires and revised suspension with the option of some serious supercharged V8 muscle.
This isn’t Fox Factory’s first experiment with a lowered pickup, either. The company previously gave the Ram 1500 similar treatment, and now Chevrolet buyers can get in on the fun.
The headline number is 675 horsepower from an available supercharged 6.2-liter V8. That’s enough to turn this Silverado into something resembling a modern muscle truck, without sacrificing its ability to do actual truck things.
675 HP And 305-Series Tires
The standard Black Widow SR uses Chevrolet’s 5.3-liter V8 producing 355 horsepower. Buyers wanting the full experience can instead choose the supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which produces 675 horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque.
Fox Factory pairs the three-inch drop with suspension upgrades designed to improve handling and reduce wheel hop during hard launches. Massive 305-series tires wrap around 22-inch wheels, while widened fender flares accommodate the extra rubber.
A cat-back exhaust gives the V8 some additional attitude, and the exterior receives a custom grille and other Black Widow touches. Optional Brembo brakes are also available for buyers who want extra stopping hardware.
It’s Still A Proper Truck
Despite its street-truck transformation, the Silverado hasn’t forgotten its day job. Fox Factory says the package retains up to 1,980 pounds of payload capacity and a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.
The cabin can be dressed up with available quilted diamond-pattern leather featuring Black Widow spider logos. That gives the truck a suitably custom feel without turning the interior into an impractical showpiece.
Pricing starts at $84,685, while choosing the supercharged engine pushes the total beyond $101,000. Options including upgraded brakes, a retractable tonneau cover, and special paint can send the price even higher.
A Modern Muscle Truck With A Warranty
One of the biggest advantages this Fox Factory vehicle has over building a lowered Silverado yourself is the support behind it. The Black Widow SR carries a three-year/36,000-mile warranty and can be serviced through Chevrolet dealerships.
That makes the 675-hp truck an interesting alternative for buyers who want aftermarket-style performance without piecing together an entire build themselves.
Fox Factory normally knows how to make trucks sit higher and tackle rough terrain. This time, getting low appears to be the whole point.
