We often hear about cars that have been hidden away for decades, just waiting to be rediscovered. Well, one man has come across an entire collection of cars, with these amazing muscle cars not seeing the light of day since the 1990s.
YouTuber Parker from Backyard Barn Finds was given a tip-off that there was a vast collection of muscle cars, hiding away in a warehouse under dusty and mouse-chewed covers. These cars had last seen daylight during the Clinton administration; that is how long they’ve been stored.
Finding even just one classic car hidden in a barn or warehouse is an exciting thing. But Parker had found a collection that was worth around $700,000. Being an expert in barn finds, he showcased them in a video on his YouTube channel and picked out some of the highlights.
There were some truly amazing cars hidden away in this barn. We had everything from a 1970s Chevelle to a stunning example of the Chevrolet Corvette. What is incredible is how well the cars have been preserved, despite their 30+ years hiding in the warehouse. All of the cars looked to be in incredibly good condition.
Which Car Was the Standout of the Collection?
One car really stood out to Parker and his team. This was a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, which was said to be a factory LS6 automatic car. This is a legendary muscle car, with a massive 454ci V8 engine under the hood, making 450hp and 500lb-ft of torque. It’s a version of the Chevelle that many collectors still lust after.
The odometer on this one reads 7,640 miles. However, there was some light restoration work done to the car in the 1990s, which may mean the odometer isn’t quite reading true. Amazingly, with a price tag of $175,000, this car already looks to have found a buyer, according to Muscle Car Fan. Yet another highlight of the collection is a truly amazing 1975 Chevrolet Corvette, and this one did have 7,000 miles on the odometer.
Finished in white, this example of the C3 Corvette looked to be in incredibly good condition. There was just a minor thing to note on the front bumper. “I’m assuming because it’s been sitting in here, probably heat-cracked,” said the YouTuber. The back bumper appeared to have done the same as well. Yet the rest of it looked amazing, and inside it was just as immaculate. “This is truly a 7,000-mile Corvette,” said Parker. This Corvette had really impressed him.
A Very Special Chevy Chevelle Lurked in the Shadows
There was one very special car tucked away in the darkest part of the garage. This was a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle LS5 Convertible, finished in blue with a white top. Now, that might not sound so special, but these are incredibly rare. “There are fewer than 30 of these cars known to exist in the world,” said Parker. “And the price on this car is $150,000,” added the YouTuber. Arguably, this was in reality the most valuable car in the collection, and it was probably the rarest too.
If you didn’t want to spend a vast fortune, however, the seller was looking to let the Corvette go for just $18,000. For a classic Corvette, in that good condition and that original, that definitely looked like a bargain. The owner of these cars bought them from police auctions or private deals in the 1980s and 1990s, and then locked them away as their values started to go up.
It is great to see this amazing collection of American muscle finally get to see the light of day again.
