Police in St. Louis had a pretty eventful afternoon after officers spotted a vehicle linked to a burglary. Unfortunately for one police SUV, the driver apparently wasn’t interested in pulling over without putting up a fight first.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, District 6 and Mobile Reserve officers were working alongside the ATF and FBI when they spotted a red Chrysler 300 wanted in connection with the burglary.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, police say the Chrysler struck an SLMPD patrol SUV before the occupants abandoned the car in an alley. Multiple suspects were ultimately taken into custody.

Fortunately, despite the patrol vehicle taking a hit, police said no officers or federal agents were injured during the incident. Judging by the video released afterward, authorities were also more than happy to show off how the multi-agency operation came to an end.

Suspects Abandon Battered Chrysler After Striking Police SUV

The video that was posted to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on X shows several officers dealing with the situation at hand. At one point, you can even see officers place handcuffs on a suspect sitting on the asphalt.

After a short while, you can then see the red Chrysler that had hit the SLMPD patrol SUV. It appears to be backed into a wooded area, cradled within some bushes and brush. You can quite literally see that the Chrysler’s front grille has been ripped off, likely during the incident.

You can see a police officer checking the inside of the vehicle for something before ultimately arresting the suspect, holding him in handcuffs while they prepare the patrol unit for him. There’s a point where you can see the suspect being restrained with one hand by an officer, and honestly, he must have realized that he messed up because he looked like he had no intention of running.

Commenters Praise Police,  But Some Are Already Worried About What Happens Next

Several commenters thanked the officers involved and praised the department for sharing footage of the operation. One person even complimented the video’s “theme music,” telling police to “keep investigating,” while another simply responded, “Thank you!”

Others were more interested in what should happen to the suspects and their vehicle. One commenter suggested confiscating and selling the Chrysler to help pay for repairs to the damaged police SUV, arguing that the suspects themselves should be responsible for any remaining costs.

There was also some skepticism about what might happen after the arrests. One person praised officers for keeping the community safe but claimed the judicial system would simply release the suspects and allow them to offend again.

Not every response was quite so serious, either. Between jokes about the suspects supposedly being “on their way to church” and another person declaring that “Chrysler is the new Cadillac,” commenters found some humor in the situation despite the damaged patrol SUV. Fortunately, the most important part of the department’s update was that nobody from law enforcement was injured.
