There are plenty of ways for a fugitive investigation to come to an end. Most involve a quiet arrest, not a vehicle pursuit, a foot chase, and a SWAT team searching an apartment complex hours later.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), that’s exactly how an operation targeting suspects connected to a San Antonio home invasion unfolded in Northwest Austin. By the end of the day, four men had been arrested, and law enforcement had recovered 11 firearms and illegal drugs.

The operation began after investigators tracked a vehicle believed to be connected to the June 15 home invasion using automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology. That trail eventually led Texas Rangers to an apartment complex near RM 2222 and McNeil Drive.

While three of the suspects remain behind bars, the man investigators were originally searching for is once again on the run. Authorities say he was released on bond before additional felony warrants tied to the home invasion were issued.

According to DPS, the Texas Rangers began assisting the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in locating 21-year-old Rodney Robinson III, who investigators believe was involved in a June 15 home invasion in northeast San Antonio.

After identifying an apartment complex in Northwest Austin where Robinson was believed to be staying, Texas Rangers and DPS Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents began surveillance on July 8. At approximately 12:45 pm, investigators watched Robinson and 23-year-old Devion Sommers leave the complex in a vehicle linked to the investigation.

When DPS Texas Highway Patrol Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, authorities say Robinson refused to pull over, leading officers on a short pursuit through the area.

Troopers ultimately ended the chase by performing a successful Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver. Robinson then fled on foot before troopers deployed a Taser and took him into custody.

Passenger Wanted for Murder in Another Case

According to DPS, Robinson was arrested for evading arrest with a motor vehicle, along with outstanding warrants for evading arrest with a vehicle, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and possession of marijuana.

Sommers, who remained with the vehicle, was arrested on an outstanding murder charge in a separate case. He also faces charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and engaging in organized criminal activity.

SWAT Found Two More Suspects at the Apartment

Several hours after the pursuit, Texas Rangers SWAT executed a search warrant at a third-floor apartment inside the same complex.

Investigators say 21-year-old Nehemiah Pratt and 19-year-old Kentrell Guillory attempted to escape by climbing down the apartment’s exterior balcony. Officers quickly located both men and took them into custody.

Both suspects were arrested on charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and engaging in organized criminal activity. DPS also said Guillory was wanted on an outstanding murder warrant from Louisiana.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered 11 firearms and illegal drugs from both the suspect vehicle and the apartment.

Robinson Is Once Again Wanted by Authorities

Although Robinson was initially arrested during the operation, DPS says he was later released on bond before additional felony warrants connected to the original San Antonio home invasion were issued in Bexar County.

While Sommers, Pratt, and Guillory remain in custody, Robinson is once again considered a fugitive.

DPS describes Robinson as 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately or submit an anonymous tip through iWatchTexas. Anyone who encounters Robinson is advised to call 911 rather than approach him.
