Some people collect stamps. Some collect vinyl records. And apparently, at least one driver in Ottawa has been quietly collecting stunt driving charges, all courtesy of the same police officer. According to Ottawa police, a driver was recently stopped travelling roughly 90 mph on Limebank Road, and it marked the third time this individual has been hit with a stunt driving charge.

What makes this one stand out isn’t just the repeat offense, it’s the repeat officer. Somehow, out of the entire Ottawa Police Service traffic unit, this driver has managed to end up on the same officer’s radar not once, not twice, but three separate times. If that’s not a sign to maybe take a different route to work, we don’t know what is.

Limebank Road has become something of a familiar name in Ottawa speeding circles lately, with multiple high-speed stops reported there in recent months. It’s a stretch of road that, for whatever reason, seems to bring out the lead foot in certain drivers. Whether that’s down to wide-open sightlines, light traffic, or just bad decision-making behind the wheel, it’s clearly on the radar of local traffic enforcement.

In Ontario, stunt driving isn’t just a slap-on-the-wrist ticket. It’s a serious charge that comes with real consequences, and repeat offenders tend to feel those consequences more each time around. For anyone who loves cars and appreciates what a well-tuned engine and a good stretch of pavement can offer, stories like this are a reminder that speed has its place, and a public road posted well below 90 mph isn’t it.

What Happened On Limebank Road

Police say the driver was stopped after being clocked significantly over the posted speed limit on Limebank Road, reportedly hitting around 90 mph.

Under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act, stunt driving charges typically apply when a driver is caught going roughly 25 mph or more over the limit, and this stop clears that bar with plenty of room to spare.

The Penalties For Stunt Driving In Ontario

A stunt driving conviction in Ontario can carry serious weight. Drivers can face an immediate roadside licence suspension, vehicle impoundment, and if convicted, fines that can run into the thousands of dollars, along with the possibility of jail time and a lengthy licence suspension.

For a repeat offender, courts tend to take a dimmer view with each additional charge.

Three stunt driving charges from the same officer isn’t just an odd coincidence, it points to a pattern of behavior that traffic units actively watch for. Ottawa police, like most departments across Ontario, keep a close eye on known problem stretches of road and repeat offenders alike.

Why Roads Like Limebank Attract Attention

Straight, wide, and comparatively open roads like Limebank often become magnets for speeders, which is exactly why they also become magnets for radar guns.

It’s a cat-and-mouse dynamic that plays out in cities across the country, and this stretch of Ottawa is clearly no exception right now.
