If you own a 1994 Fleetwood Brougham sedan, you might not expect it to be worth much. Why would you? The car was built by Cadillac from 1976 to 1996 in huge numbers and marketed as a full-size luxury sedan. It was one of the most popular cars of the time.
Originally, the Fleetwood wasn’t a stand-alone model in the Cadillac range, but it became one in 1985. The second generation was the last, introduced in 1993 and in production until 1996, replacing the 1987-1992 Brougham. The Brougham option was added as a trim addition to the car.
An interesting discussion recently emerged on Reddit regarding the value of the cars. One user recently purchased one of them, although life plans mean they can no longer pursue some of the work they had planned for it. But it opened a fun discourse as to how much one could sell for.
As it transpires, it seems the value is higher than you might think. There are some versions, such as this particular 1994 example, that are hard to find in clean condition. And even though this one needs a transmission rebuild, it could be a bit of an underdog.

This particular example has the Brougham option added, making it a 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham sedan. Under the hood, it has the 4L60E engine, although it currently only runs with first and second gear, plus reverse. But while the frame has surface rust, it sounds as if the rest of the car is in great condition.
The interior is in excellent condition, and the exterior looks to be very clean from the images posted online. The transmission rebuild is the trickiest part of this car, and the one thing that could make the rebuild a nightmare. Especially if it was too far damaged and needed a new one entirely, but some on Reddit said it shouldn’t be a problem. “If it was me, I’d rebuild the trans (not hard to do if you have the skills and a couple of specialty tools),” said user BeaverMartin.
The same user also said that these particular Fleetwoods are hard to find in clean condition. As it is, the car is probably worth $2,000-$2,500 in total. However, with a full transmission rebuild, it could even sell for as high as $5,000 and perhaps even $7,000 if the rest of the car is indeed in great condition.
What Will Happen With This Particular Fleetwood?

The Reddit poster said they do plan on selling the car, as the plans they had for it have sadly fallen through. In fact, they seemed happy to hear what people said on their post. Responding to BeaverMartin, Financial-Style-8331, the owner of the car, said, “That’s honestly all I’m looking for as is. That gives me a lot of hope, bless you!”
They did then update people and say taking the trans apart left them feeling quite overwhelmed and intimidated. However, another user, Tyzorg, responded further and said that there are forums that can help find used transmissions, in good condition, that can just be swapped straight into an existing car. That gave the original poster some hope. We would love to see what happens with this build, and hope the current owner can get it running again and sell it on to a new home.
