A video recently shared by Frank Sloup of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office shows why it is usually better to keep traffic stops simple. Or, at least, why it is usually better to provide an officer with the basic information being requested so everyone can move on.

The incident itself happened in Orlando, Florida, on August 14, 2025, but the video has continued to circulate across YouTube, Facebook, and law-enforcement-focused social media pages. Most recently, Sloup used the stop in a viral Facebook Reel as a teachable example of how quickly a routine traffic stop can spiral.

Unfortunately, for one Tesla driver, she did not make things very easy. Sloup watches as the scene unfolds in front of him, making sure not to say much until it is finished.

By the end, the lesson is pretty clear. What began as a stop over a missing plate became a much bigger problem after the driver refused to provide the information officers were asking for.

One Missing Plate Quickly Turned Into an Argument

The video starts off in the middle of the conversation between the Orlando police officer and the woman driving a blue Tesla. The very first thing you hear when she speaks is, “I don’t need to give you guys anything.”

Upon hearing this, the officer knew there was going to be a problem, and he asked, “What’s your issue? Why are you being like that?” He then explains the reason for the stop as being, “you don’t have the license plate. You said it should be there, right? And I told you it’s not, so then where is it?”

The woman replies, saying that she doesn’t know where it could possibly be, though it’s her attitude that comes off strongly. When the officer explains that he will then need her information, considering that he can’t get it from her tag, she seems to be in disbelief.

The Situation Really Didn’t Need To Escalate

When the video ended, Sloup gave his two cents, saying that the woman just made things a whole lot harder for herself. He explains that it is common for paper license plates to break off, but should that happen, there are other ways to search for it.

Had the woman simply given her information, then she likely would have been able to leave with a warning and some advice on what to do next. However, she didn’t do that.

Sloup also notes that from the moment he realized the officer was from Orlando, he had a pretty good idea how the encounter was going to go. According to Sloup, Orlando officers have a reputation for “handling business.”

What Happened After the Video Ended?

While Sloup’s shorter clip focuses on the teachable moment, the full bodycam video shows the stop ultimately ended with the driver being arrested.

According to Orange County Jail records, 34-year-old Candace Lynne Conroy of Orlando was arrested by the Orlando Police Department on August 14, 2025, and charged with resisting an officer without violence.

The full video also shows a supervisor explaining that the situation may have ended very differently had the driver simply provided the requested information and explained that the temporary tag had fallen off. Instead, what began as a stop for a missing plate escalated into an arrest after a prolonged dispute over identification and the officers’ authority to conduct the stop.

Commenters Say They Saw the Problem Coming

The comments section quickly filled with viewers who believed they recognized the driver’s arguments. One highly liked comment read:

“Sovereign citizen. ‘Contracting’ refers to doing business in commerce, which triggers having all the laws apply. Sovereigns believe free private citizens aren’t subject to commerce laws and use the word ‘traveling’ in place of ‘driving’ as well, referring to the right to travel freely. There’s actually some good substance backing their legal beliefs, but I’ve never seen it work out well for them.”

Others were more judgmental of the vehicle the woman was driving. One commenter wrote, “As soon as I saw what she was driving (2 seconds in), I knew exactly where this video was going to go.”

Another viewer focused on the language used during the stop, writing, “When they hear ‘contracting,’ it’s going to be a problem.”

The video has continued to spark debate because it does not just show a missing plate or an argumentative driver. It shows how a stop that may have ended with a warning can turn into an arrest when a driver refuses to provide basic information.
