A Florida man was arrested late Friday night after Florida Highway Patrol officers said he had been speeding on I-75. What’s worse is what orricers found when he was finally stopped.

According to witnesses, not only was the driver incredibly intoxicated throughout the encounter, but he also had 34 open cans of White Claw with him. The driver was identified as Conor William Parady, 33, from San Antonio, Florida.

It isn’t clear exactly where he was coming from or where he was going to, but he was clearly in no state to drive. Parady’s alcohol concentration was measured to be 0.177%, which is more than twice Florida’s legal limit.

Photos released by the Florida Highway Patrol showed multiple open beverage containers throughout the vehicle’s interior. While authorities did not immediately specify the type of alcohol involved, the sheer number of containers drew attention online after details of the arrest were made public.

Was It Really That Many Cans?

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident unfolded around 10:46 p.m. on June 12 along northbound Interstate 75 near mile marker 280 in Pasco County. A state trooper patrolling the area reportedly spotted a Honda Civic traveling at speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour.

Once troopers determined that Parady was heavily intoxicated, they reportedly discovered an unusual amount of alcohol inside the vehicle. According to FHP, the Honda Civic contained 34 open alcohol containers, raising additional concerns about the circumstances leading up to the stop.

Under Florida law, drivers are considered impaired if their blood alcohol concentration reaches 0.08% or higher. A reading of 0.15% or above can lead to pretty severe DUI penalties in some cases, especially if you’re factoring in odd behaviors.

What Was the Suspect Charged With?

Fortunately, no crashes or injuries were reported in connection with the incident. However, authorities emphasized the dangers associated with impaired driving, especially on busy interstate highways where excessive speed and intoxication can create life-threatening conditions for both drivers and others on the road.

Parady was taken into custody and transported to the Pasco County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of driving under the influence, according to FHP.

At this time, DUI remains the only announced charge stemming from the incident, though authorities noted that additional charges have not been ruled out. Troopers did not immediately release further details regarding whether prosecutors may pursue other violations related to the open containers or alleged speeding offense.

Let This Be a Reminder To Avoid Driving While Impaired

The arrest has since sparked conversation online due to the reported number of open alcohol containers found inside the car, with many expressing disbelief over the circumstances of the stop.

Florida Highway Patrol continues to remind motorists to avoid driving while impaired, urging anyone who has consumed alcohol to use a rideshare service, designate a sober driver, or make alternate transportation plans before getting behind the wheel.

As of Saturday, additional information regarding Parady’s court appearance or legal representation had not yet been released. As with all criminal cases, the suspect is deemed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
